See, that right there is very telling.....

If you had the talent or wherewithal you'd have the 372 on your saddle for every cut and would be able to make95% of your in tree cuts and almost all of the butt cuts ..

That's why I recommend ed the 346 for you knowing you couldn't handle a bigger saw all day....

Choke it around the trunk about a foot or two from the top and make one cut at the ground. Up and over the wires and lay it down in the street. Easy peasy.

and just a fyi, a wizard sleeve is what i refer to as a 5k lb pick. this one was a shade over at 5200...

so if i were to ask you while we were craning, "how much do you think it'll weigh"? and if you knew it was less than 5k but more than 3500 you'd say "just shy of a wizard sleeve" than that would tell me to put at least 4 on the cable....

right?

and coincidently if we knew we're big pickn's you could say, "well over a sleeve"....

just like when i need to be cabled up while in tree, i just go with a hand signal i saw on the internet from one of the prominent crane guy here and tell the operator to "levitate". if i remember correctly that hand signal on that youtube vid for "levitate" was open hand up with arm outreached at a 45degree angle moving up and down......

communication is key right?

I guess that makes me an old wuss then!

I use the smallest saw I can get away with in the tree whether craning or whatever.

As long as the saw's razor sharp and throwing good chips I'm happy.

Probably explains why every ms200t I've ever owned has rattled off it's muffler though!

14 inch bar? I'm good for 28 inch dia wood! 20's good for 40, 36 for 72.

Biggest saw I've ever needed in a tree was a 395xp with a 36inch bar. I do a lot of circling round the spar of course!

Guess I'm a wimp!

Wrong Wrong Wrong meathead.
What I get to do at TCI recently is fun and due to the equipment and team members I can do a lot more as well as learn better and safer techniques, however I will never come close at TCI to the Eucs I had to rig down and palms I climbed and cleaned up by myself in Phoenix Az for 18 years.

And for the record, I used to use the 3120 xp in the tree as well as an 88.
Carried a thousand trees out of backyards, trimmed gazzilions of palms...nasty nasty monsters youd run away from crying after 1 so go have another beer and keep dreaming up things to say to take that all away.
SLAP!
