"New" throwbags

Re: \"New\" throwbags

Heres my take on the throwbag thing as a former supply guy....

Several yrs back in an the first attempt to copy the rocket, sherrill had weaver sew an eye into the bottom of the throwbags for the biner. Now, Tobe, DO NOT deny this. In speaking w/ Dick at Weaver about getting this very style, he said it was made specifically for you and you all had the exclusive rights to it. The first time I mentioned it, he said it was going public w/in 4 months. 10 later, it was another 6+ months. Now they dont make them.

So, does Sherrill have enough influence to copy products and get away w/ it? They sure do. Im sure weaver is only making the harrison style bag as they were 'highly encouraged' to do so.

As for weavers bag problem, Dick w/ Weaver called me last week about the bags and a former customer of mine that complained to him at TCI about thier bags. He told me they werre being redone as the original bags were not being cut big enough and stitched well enough, over stuffing, etc. thats already been mentioned.

I do have one of the Harrison rockets. Never use it. top ring is too small for my likeing, but thats only a personal issue. The bags i use were made by buckingham and are made of fabric (not vinyl).

Re: \"New\" throwbags

I think that the crux of this arguement lies in how we value each type of throwbag. Obviously, price is not the only determining factor. Here are a few variables that have been mentioned in this thread concerning value:

Durability , Price , Community

Durability and price are self explainable, and community is a measure of the value you place in where your dollars are going.

As professionals, we likely maximize our value rather than minimize our costs (there is a difference). We might even say that

(Durability + Community) / Price = Value.

I don't know how to do this, but would some tech minded person like to post a voting block with these variables to see how the Harrison Rocket compares to the Neo? We could have a rating system of 1 to 5 for each variable (5 being best), and the price for each throw bag would be fixed (in dollars). The resulting number would then be a measure of value per dollar. There are some assumptions (such as the relative weight for each variable is the same), but lets give it a try.

My personal results would run like this (I'm not sure the prices are right), Harrison (H) vs. Neo (N):

Durability (H=4, N=1), Community (H=5, N=2), Price (H=25, N=12).

Value of Harrison: 0.36
Value of Neo: 0.25

In this scheme, I receive more value from the Harrison rocket than the Neo.

Re: \"New\" throwbags

I tried to post a poll, but failed to find something adequate.

Using the scheme on the previous post, I invite everyone to post their respective values associated with the Neo and Harrison Rocket.

As an engineer, it warms my heart to see someone using math to quantify something as like this.

Something you may be missing though is a possible multiplier on certain factors. For instance, Durability might be twice as important as Community. That would make your equation

V=(2D+C)/P
ergo

Harrison: V = (2(4)+5)/25 = 0.52
Neo: V = (2(1)+2)/12 = 0.33

The multiplier is subjective (as are the original 5-scale ratings) and will certainly be different for everybody, but it is a good way to make a more objective comparison.

Re: \"New\" throwbags

That's great fhfr434! Yes, I think that people certainly weight each of the subjective variables differently. I wanted to steer the discussion towards a more objective value system, instead of the emotional arguements that this thread was becoming.

I 'aint no engineer so I use a different, subjective method:

'Think Globally, Act Locally' (unless my pocket book dictates otherwise)

We haven't seen you around here for a while, where'd you go?
Never mind, after reading some of your other posts, I remembered why I didn't miss you: this a discussion forum (complete sentences, punctuation, grammar), not a text message world.
