New Saw and Tremotion Bridge

Hi my name is Ted I am new to this forum but I buy all my stuff from Treestuff. I'm looking at a new saws something that will pull a 24" bar. I have 9 saws now but the newest is a 55 rancher. I am leaning toward Stihl. I have an 023 that has never let me done. I'm trying to decide whether to get a Pro saw of a Farm i.e Plastic case saw. I am not a full time arborist yet but I have 5 years climbing experience and just pick up a 192T. Which has more power than I thought. It works for me. I am 53 and have severe arthritis and pain has become my friend. But that all goes away when I am climbing or felling. I am safety minded and low and slow works for me. I am leaning toward a new pro saw. Because the 192 was an e-bay saw and it didn't come problem free. I like the tune it your self carbs. I looked at one at my local Stihl dealer it was 50 -60cc don't remember the model. I don't think I need anything bigger but they said it was made to pull up to a 20" bar the only reason I want the extra 4" is because I have some good sized oaks and the extra 4" inches seems to make easier for me to line up the felling cuts. I will only be doing this on my own property for now. If my body can take more who no's what will happen. I also saw a review on a Dolmar that looked like it was well made. 4" isn't much so I don't think it will matter at least that is what she said. I have a TM saddle love it and saw the video on Hunike's Video on his new saddle where they showed the adjustable bridge but from what I read on this forum it doesn't sound like like the safest idea. One thing I did see is just attaching the the bridge paws with a biner and using that to climb SRT . Has anyone come up with a safe way to make the TM bridge adjustable? OK gentle men and ladies let me have it any and all feed back is welcome!!!
Thanks
Ted
P.S sorry for the long post!!!

I'm not going to get into the saw advice .... I'll welcome someone else to do that.
For a fail safe adjustable bridge that can be shock loaded .... how about a prusic cord? I think @MikePowers321 is using this set-up.
I have arthritis from old bone injuries. I am now 46 and none of it bothers me in an arthritic way. I consume lots of antibodies from fruits and veggies. I slam one shot glass of apple cider vinegar almost every day. That alone is supposed to ''melt'' calcium deposits ... and much more.
BTW Welcome to the buzz.

372xp from husky or 461 from stihl.
Both excellent choices. Although I'd pick the MS361 or what ever the new version of the 036 pro is. I ran a 24'' no problemo and it was very light on the saddle for it's power to weight ratio. The old power head alone and bone dry weighed about 11.7lbs

I didn't expect a response that quickly I think I might have been looking at the 361 the Husky's are great saws but I am partial to Stihl. But that is based on my experience with the old Husk's I have. I find the Stihl's easier to work on. But since I will probably be getting a new saw I won't have to fix it as often. I will have to go with price as well times are tough. I ended up on disability and it sucks. I was trying to get work doing anything and no one would hire me because of the Meds. I was on they don't effect me like they do other people because I am a recovering drunk. Even when I have had my surgeries the anesthesiologist would have to give me an extra shot. I've been without for 20 years 2yrs. after I quit I got Injured. Talk about a kick in the butt. I am just dealing with the pain now and trying hard to work for myself because I can't say to some one I can show up on a certain date and time and be ok to work. My 55 Rancher is pulling a 24" bar now but I go easy with it. I hope to keep working on getting stronger but I just lost 30lbs. which is good but I wasn't trying so who know more Dr's no answers. Screw them I have put my life on hold long enough. That's my rant on our medical system so all of you be safe you don't want a back injury or hip or anything I know most of you do prodution work but just make sure your head is always wear it suppose to be.

Welcome TJG. I also have e the 192 and if you havent pulled the screen from the muffler, do it now, and it will run a bit better. Husky has a 465 in the rancher series that they rate for a 28" bar. I was supposed to have one by now but funds were diverted to other things. Also congrats on 20 years. Take a look into bee venom therapy for the arthritis.

Can't say what I'd use if I were you, but as for myself.. my go to saws are a 461 (depending on that days job) 32" or 25", 440 with a 28", for small shit here and there or between the big saw and the top handle homelite while climbing, I always have a 250 in the truck with an 18". That said, my 461 with a dual port and max flow filter is a killer saw. 76cc, though, I know you were saying 50-60cc. 440 is 70cc and was supposedly made for being buried in hardwoods.

A top handled Homelite .... holy crap. Didn't think I'd ever see/hear one of those in daily use again. Is it a double trigger? I have one and the case it came in buried in my archives somewhere.

I have a middle-aged Dolmar with 20" bar. Great forestry saw, and hard as heck to get parts/service. I ended up learning a lot more about saw servicing because I cannot locate suitable access to maintenance and parts, lol. A little heavy up in the tree, and the bar adjuster placement is inferior to Stihl saws. There are so many great saws out there that you really should consider buying the in-house brand from the closest competent mechanic, as the first consideration. After that, sky is the limit. I think the only brand-specific saw I'd buy right now is that tiny little echo thingy with a sugi/pico setup. Hopefully you already have the pico bar and chain on your 192tc, btw? They have great efficiency when they are cutting only 2/3rds the kerf of a 200t...

It's in the work trailer, I'll grab a picture of it when I get to the property. Was at the habitat for humanity restore looking for joist hangers and French drain pipe and found the saw tucked back in a shelf. sticker said it ran fine*, didn't expect it to run really, but fired it up right there on third choked pull, really surprised me and scared the bejesus outta the couple standing nearby. Cost $20 and hasn't given me any trouble over the last year or so that I've had it.

I don't have a problem rebuilding or fixing saws had to learn how to do that just because I got everyone's saws that they were going to toss. Now I have 9 saws I have some oldies I am working on well they are all old but the real old ones are the XL Homelites and the 925 Homelite and a Stihl 041 Farm Boss with no AV. Getting old and need a light powerful saw. I have a a 55 Rancher with a 24" Bar but its just old like me. Pruned the three trunk pine tree in front of the house yesterday until I heard screaming and it wasn't my saw. She said it looks like a Charlie Brown Xmas tree. And I barely got over the house maybe 30' had another 30 to go before I could take a top off. I was laughing on the inside. It is splitting in 3 spots so it won't las long just wanted to get anything that wold hit the house.

I am going to go with the MS 361 if my dealer can find one with the regular carb. not big on electronics on any motor but its the future cars have them but they don't have as much vibration running through them. My buddy told me there was a recall on some of the Stihl saws. Did anyone hear about that?

No I haven't heard of any problems that I know of. Now I'm an old school guy and love a good naturally aspirated, carbed engine. I have a 200tc and love it. I've used a friend's 262tc and want one. NO TUNING REQUIRED! The damn thing just keeps learning. Keep it clean and change filters regularly. That's all that's needed besides bar/chain maintenance.

It's the 460/461 series type that is recalled. fuel line issues.

Husky 365 "special", if you can find a good used one...
I've had mine since 2008(new), and have had to do nothing to it, just the reg. maintenance....and self inflicted repairs.

I have chunked wood on top of it breaking the throttle lock, a piece of the cooling fin, inertia break....starts every time, never let's me down!

I run a 24" bar....the saw just eats it up! Can drop some pretty big wood with it.

This is a great saw for packing in the bush or up a tree...great weight to power ratio! If you have body pains and problems, this saw is relatively light for the longer days!

Love my 365!

My personal opinion on Husky's are they are good saws but, Husqavarna isn't the company they use to be I have one of there snow blowers and a riding lawn mower. The mower has been good to me seeing what I put it through but the snow blower is not built very well and it is top of the line model. There older saws are well built the 3 I have were hand me downs and with little effort they are running the 55 rancher is an 1983 I think and it is very hard to start. But runs well and cuts ok. The older Stihls I have can sit and start and cut fast. I have an old 023 That has never needed a thing. I have to many saws not to mention the 3 Vintage saws I am working on. I pick up 3 old homelites for next to nothing I haven't got the XL925 running yet. But the XL12 and the super cut like mad But they are heavy beasts. I will sell them they would make excellent firewood saws for a young gorilla. Apparently the XL925 was one of the most popular logging saws in its day. I'm to old to hall that beast around the woods. Thanks for all of the different ideas the people one this forum are the best.
