New Saw and Tremotion Bridge

Based on what you've already posted,

044/440
MS441 non CM
MS461

The 44s will be lighter, & obviously you will appreciate that if you plan to use this saw while in the tree.

I bought a MS361 with intentions of getting it ported for the very reason you describe, but as an in the tree saw.

I've got 2-461s that I think a lot of for felling.

Do NOT buy a Stihl 362ce thinking that pussy will pull a 24" chain to cut 24" wood. Some sales rep might tell you it's specs say it can but all that time you spend waiting for that thing to get thru a cut you will be thinking, "shoulda listened to CuthighandLetFly"

The 036 and 361 are slightly heavier but superior saws. Maybe you could find an 038.

I had a o38 and sold for reasons I can't remember but my neighbor has it and won't let me tough it. But I was the first one he called when he needed someone to climb and this week he had an Ash fall on his deck and didn't know how to deal with it so I went over with saw and cut it for him. I still Kick myself in the ass for selling it !! Nothing I would drag up a tree though.

I just put a bid on e-bay on a dealer refurbished MS461 . My top bid is $200 +60 for shipping. It is the carborated version. Is this one of the saws that was recalled or does it go by serial no. I haven't called my dealer yet but I thought the last time I was there I saw a MS 362 that didn't have the M tronic system and what are your opinions on these new electronic carbs.

Thank You!!!
You're quite welcome. I had looked it up a few days ago and meant to post it, mine's actually within that range. Got a decent sized job coming up on Friday, 5 100'+ Incense Cedars over two houses, and now I'm paranoid my saw gonna suddenly act up now that I know about the recall.. damn brain.
Thank You!!!

You should be OK Just bring something smaller or bigger. Beg or borrow one and make sure you have a fire extinguisher near by. I raised my bid on e-bay to $350 I sent the guy a message and they were refurbished with Stihl parts. I don't know how high I should go. New they are over 1000.00 But there is a No Return policy so if I get a piece of crap I am out the money and have another project saw. I talk to the Stihl dealer and he said that they still make the non M tronic saws and I could get a brand new 362 for $800 out the door. Never owned a new saw before would be nice. And the e-bay guy has 4-5 of the 461's. And a 362 that they posted all at the same time.

Couple of funky trees.. can't see the lean cause it's coming straight towards the camera, 70% of it is over the power lines and they want their landscaping untouched so we're speedlining what we can out over the house to a field where the chipper is.

Hi everyone
I am looking at a 460 on e-bay it has 140psi compression. That seems a little low to me. Anyone know I already bid on it the 441's that were refurbished went for $500 or more plus 60.00 for shipping. This saw is going to be at least $500 + 28.00 to ship. I don't like the idea of buying off e-bay but there isn't anything local.

Nice shot not much tension on ropes did you have wedges in them? Didn't see the part where power company was coming to take lines down!!

The two trees in the videos weren't too bad, the first one we just had to direct a couple feet to miss the septic. The second one though was backleaning a good 20' at the top and that was over the granny unit, but it came over no problem with a line up near the top and some wedges

Here's a video of a top and gravity being stronger than me guy on the ground. Nothin bad happened, but hadn't noticed that the power line PG&E took down was draped over my truck, you can see it in the end of the video. And not sure what he's yelling "Faster" about..

That look more like a tree than a top. Good job I guess the groundie was in a hurry :cachetada:. at the end that was the power line boucing up.Was it laying were you dropped the top?
I bought a 460 off e-bay more power ( I hope) and 1/2 the price as a new 362 never owned a new saw why start now. They sure do look pretty when they are new. Maybe I will hit the lottery:baaa: Thanks for everyone's input I went over the entire post and most people were pushing toward a 70cc saw anyway I have midsize Husk's that pull an 18" bar. Now I have to start selling some of my Vintage collection to pay for the 460 discover is paying for it well at least for a month. I'm thinking of getting one of those saw kit like a 660 and make it a hot saw. I have seen some videos where they were comparing them part for part with Stihl and some parts are not as good but I think you can get the kit for under 200 bucks. If you haven't seen them check out afleetcomand or just search for 660 clones. I was just looking at all of the smiles I like this guy :musculoso:
Thanks again everyone!!
