New petzl sequoia saddle

Hey I'm new on here I'm in the market for a new saddle I'm looking into the sequoia from petzl, but the TM and the ergovation are also in consideration if anyone can give some insight on pros and cons to both, please looking for all responses thanks guys
Gabe

I'd look into the TM or the Ergo. I can not do a comparison but I've seen them all up close ish. I have the sequoia, and it's good but for just a little more $ you can get so much more. The sequoia is pretty light duty the small webbing suspension sketched me out for the longest time. Its holding up well however, I wish it would wear out so I can justify getting something else. I had issues with the gold rings stripping (probably my fault) and they wanted me to send it to petzl HQ so they could replace them. I do hear that may be changing and they may be selling the rings as replacements soon.

I personally like the idea of a rope bridge.

I had a sequoia for about 2 yrs. It was a replacement for an original that had issues with the leg straps attachment at the back. I liked it for the most part but when the webbing attaching the leg straps and waist belt at the front showed serious wear I had to buy a new saddle since the sequoia isn't designed with replacement parts. I went with the TM this time.

I think there might be a Sequoia on Treebay forum if you go that route. I am a big fan of New Tribe myself. Good luck deciding and if you can try some on and hang or play around in them if possible.

TM hands down....though if you are doing big removals on a regular basis...the ergo would probably be the choice...

Yea I do a fair amount of removals, Crane and regular removals by hand that's why I am looking all three, i need a saddle that will be light enough for production climbing as well as taking a beating in extreme cold and crane work, thanks

Lol that's what people are saying , does anyone know how the TM handles in freezing temps, as I do live in the land of ice and snow here in good ol' minnesnowta

Mine hasn't frozen yet.

I've had the sequoia, and in the tm about 2 years now. Ill never go back. Treemotion hands down. Its not even comfortable, its like it's not even there!

Wow Jeff have not seen you here in ages...I agree the TM is just so much more than the sequoia...it's my preference hands down...would never go back either...

I have owned/own all three and at the sane time so it was easy to compare on a day to day level and not from memory.
I feel all three are equally great saddles and each shines in certain aspects. that being said i feel the Sequoia is very stealth, lightweight, and cool in the hot months.
the Ergo is clearly the Cadillac with supior padding, adjustability as well as bridge options, can also meet fall restraint requirements with upper harness and comfort, cant be beat for long removals. then there is the TreeMotion which took the most time to dial in and MUST be dialed in to appreciate it performance. it is the compromise or melding of the things that are great about the other two saddles all rolled into one. i could write for an hour but i suggest there is nothing better then getting your hands on these saddles to test drive and find the best for you.
if you have to have it "all in one tough [pick a different word] saddle" then I would go with the TM

The easiest way to make the TM more comfortable for removals and therefore knock the Ergo out of the running is by adapting one of Buckingham's super comfy suspenders sets to the TM. Thus making the TM the obvious choice for all scenarios...

I didn't think you could make a hybrid like that with the TM I know your not really suppose to cross blend cuz it will void warranties and other stuff to that effect but with the TM since it's such a fine tuned saddle I didn't even think it would attach properly

As long as you're not suspending your life from it, instead using them to support gear weight the possibilities are endless. I use the "H" style ones and put the two front straps between the stiff material and the padding just in front of the "D" rings and use a carabiner for the rear single attachment. I don't use this set up as fall arrest or as an SRT chest harness just a super padded tool support system.

freezing of the tree motion no issues I live in Canada near Windsor Ontario all in all the tm has held up it looks like a cheap short lasting saddle an its like anything else of you take care of your gear it will last ill buy another tm
