Maybe we could get him to tell us a little more about those times and what is was like to work with The Maverick Ed Hobbs.

I'm not shy in stating that I not only worked with Ed, but highly respected his abilities and achievements.
While reading this book I was struck how "typically Ed" it was written. A very modest fellow, who when confronted with praise, would often stare at the ground, kicking the dirt and change the subject. He talks more about others than himself.
He gave nicknames to certain individuals that were descriptive of some idiosyncrasies within their personalities or physical attributes. If I were to do the same for him, it would have to be The Blacksmith, as he was a forger of men and metal.
His ability to develop personalities or objects was quite remarkable. This book portrays some of the people and how diverse they actually were, yet were able to work as a cohesive group. Each more than willing to place their life in the hands of any one amongst the team and often did on a regular basis.
This is clearly different than what I hear expressed in the feelings of most individuals now working in this field. This was a designed attribute in the company. It didn't happen by accident.
