Never again will I work for Company X

What frustrates me the most about this is that I know that these guys are the ones that made me pay over $60,000 last year to work comp, for my little 5-6 employee company. As long as there are people operating like this, there will be high injury ratings that affect all the rest of us trying to do it right. On that note, is there a work comp company just for good reputable arborists through TCIA or ISA, or am I just stuck with this?

After a few years (I believe it is 3) you can get a rate on your own merits. Until then you are put on a state average withing your industry. That includes landscapers and loggers as well. It may vary in your state though. Check with your carrier for more details.

wow,
you know this is why i work for myself with a few very talented people.
i take only enough work to get by.
i put up with that bs for years, im over that stuff.
i dont think comp is gonna cover the amount of therapy i might need if i watched a co workers body explode, due to stupidity.
stay safe
leave the rat race.

You must be paying your guys real well!

It's because of these situations that I stopped working with other tree companies...I guess there are 2 companies in NY I would work with...I don't know enough of the guys here in Vermont yet...I have a good friend that does tree work and has been hurt bad,had a dumb a$$ worker burn his house to the ground and he wouldn't know the Z133 if it bit him on the a$$ that I no longer work with because of how dangerous he works(and he thinks PPE is for sissies)...cut your losses Jesse and stop working with these guys, yes your wallet will be thinner but if something real bad happens your wallet will be thicker in the long run...

Noel said it best. When the debate over safety standards get going this is where we all have a say in how others perform on the job. It effects us all when the risk someone else takes ends in injury or death.
