need input on forestry trucks

i am going to purchase a forestry truck (ford or international) 60 footer, prolly 10 years old and like to stay below 70k miles.
so give me your input on what to look for in the lifts and any other things you may think of.

Over center boom is da bomb. I'm not a fan of joystick controls, but to each their own. Pony motor will save big wear and tear on your truck, and save fuel. Speaking of fuel, if you can find a diesel, they tend to be better powered for pulling, esp. with heavy loads. Make sure the boom manufacturer and/or model is one that can be repaired without an act of congress. Buy a Southern truck if you can for obvious reasons.

Do Not want another chevy(they are junk) i have had 4 different chevy/gmc trucks and they all fall apart. A diesel is a must as real trucks dont have spark plugs. As far as a boom, over center is a must have too. which one is going to be better? Lift-all, High-ranger, All-tech,Versalift. There is a versalift not to far from here so I know I could get parts if needed

Not trying to sound like a smartarse, but it sounds like you have a good idea of what you want (or don't ) already. Think about what you already know and post more specific questions. I think you'll do better that way.

What has went wrong on your Chevys?

They and the Internationals seem the most popular for that year range. The frame and body is the only thing Chevy though typically? I heard they have electrical issues, but curious on what problems you've had.

I myself like a Ford or Int. But I'm inviting a GMC to join the fleet in over a month.

Thought it was very spacific. I asked about diesels with pony motors and knowledge that people on here might have with different lifts. you must be a chity man

I have had 3 chevy's and ALL of them had problems with doors not shutting, front end problems, slop in the steering even after rebuilding the gear box and rebuilding the front end. Basically everything that was on the truck that wasnt GM did just fine. I will say that GM/Chevy did a good job on their motors in smaller trucks. Yes all my trucks have been used and I am sure a new one wood not have these problems. Just give it time.
