Toe position maybe? However I think the Kong or the knots below it might be the issue. My assumption is that the rope is getting bound on your up stroke a dragging the rope along instead of feeding through. If you can take the lower end off and try a short ascent. It will suck and may not work well but if it is smooth then we know you need to modify the lower end. Set the rope up and move the hook by hand, see if it is smooth or if the Kong is the issue. It may only have one sweet spot if any that is being compromised by your foot position or the knots.
