need chipper

I am looking for a used but still workable chipper...preferably self feed and a brush bandit, but I would consider a strong whisper chipper. I am in the Midwest area of the US (Southern IL) I am monitoring craigslist but if any of you have one for sale, I would rather keep the money in the family so to speak. Any advice on where to look would be appreciated.

Check the heavy equipment trader here in CA. Lots of good deals on whole tree chippers with diesel engines that no longer meet CARB mandates enacted a few years ago in CA.

I think there's even a Tree Equipment Trader.

just got done scowering tree trader...my wallet cried just from looking at the prices...nothing even close to my price range...they did have one or two big bastards I wouldn't mine having given to me though

The old Asplundhs with the 6cyl industrial ford engines and the 16 inch blades are great chippers with a little TLC and proper feeding techniques.

They are lovingly known as chuck n ducks, and can keep three groundies very busy feeding them. much faster and productive than the new BC1000's in my opinion. And a hell of a lot cheaper!

the chuck n ducks are referred to here as whipper chippers...cus they whip the out of you if you dont chuck n duck

the funny thing about me needing a chipper is I just sold one. 3 days after i sold it (wasn't planning on doing anymore private work even though I love it) my buddy calls me up, tells me hes got a bunch of tree work to do for some hi profile people and asks If I want to start up a tree service with him. First I laughed, then I cussed, then I ordered 500 business cards, a cpl t shirts and called my insurance guy...wish me luck :)

I have a 93 brush bandit 250xp 12" chipper with a 102hp perkins and is in great shape i would sell. 2500 hrs. Its an animal!! It is self feed. $8500

One of the very best high production WTC'S I have fed with a crane. A true beast. I love it's ability to open its feed wheel hydraulically with the push of a lever when feeding logs. Far superior to the BC1800's and 2000's in my opinion.

It definitley is a beast!

There is a Morbark 12" locally that is going for around $2500. I think it is a mid 90s not sure. I will look into it tomorrow. I believe the number is Bayberry Gardens. 508-349-6764.

New high quality steel blades and bed knife, set just right, you can start chucking and duckin, and fill your chiptruck plenty quick.

You may get a bit thrashed until you get the art of feeding it just right though.

Another plus is that I've never heard of a groundman going through one!
