Natural cabling

Trees are amazingly cool. The graft means they are sharing xylem and phloem tissue, right? I tried to make a chair using willow stems, but didn't get a take on all the stems due to lack of watering, I'm sure. I will try it again this season. Growing a lawn chair in place in my yard, how sweet is that!

Thanks for the details folks.

Sylvia, so that graft happened between the main stem and the codom? Have you inspected the actual site of the graft (have you climbed this tree to check it out?) I would be curious to see what the graft points look like, and if there is any evidence of stress on the graft due to fact that it is a serious 'natural' cable.
awesome picture

Tom, some pictures of your project would be swell.

Diane, I was not questioning any individual for more details. I was just pressing everyone for more tidbits. tree buzzers are full of excellent knowledge and experiences... Sometimes you just gotta ask a few more questions to get to the answers
so thanks for sharing

The pictures I took from the other side of the tree were back lit and did not show the graph well. The graph is complete and well-formed on all sides.

We will be back on site this next week and should be able to go up it to get "close up and personal" pics.

Sylvia
