My SRT Frog setup

I'm looking for feedback on my frog walking setup. I've got three pictures. The main thing I'm questioning is the tether between the Croll and the CMI dual ascender. The mini biner on top of the Croll attaches the the "cross-chest" member of by Buckingham suspenders. The knot at the CMI is a butterfly. The other leg of that rope is a footloop and I have a Pantin on my right foot.

Thanks for the thoughts...

If you can find a way to attach the croll as low as possible on your harness. I'm talking below the waist low. You will have a easier time staying parallel to the access line. Make the length of the tether from croll to CMI so you can cycle from mid chest to comfortably just over head and you'll maximize efficiency.

What you have should work fine, but you may struggle to keep your spine in alignment. That costs efficiency/energy.

X2 what Tony said, but it looks good. I might try to introduce a chafe sleeve in the foot loop next time, but its easy enough to take out a brummel and put one on it. Looks good, Id use it.

this has been working well for me, saves me space and since I am working srt I end up using it through out the day, made the loop go inside my boot. I also found that the dynaglide throwline is a low profile tether between my upper ascender and my foot loop.

I do not attach myself to the upper ascender as I do not want to be attached to something that cant come down easy. It terrifies me the thought of being stuck while something bad is going on and having to get off of a weighted ascender sucks. I also removed the thumb lock from the upper ascender completely so I can pop it on and off the line with one hand.

so I just used some webbing from an old back pack and then stitched on some plastic from a three ring binder. I put it underneath my insole and can barley feel it while climbing. Its a wierd sensation when I am frog walking, It really feels like I am barefooted and I have to look down to make sure I haven't forgotten my boots.

Why the big doubled handled ascender for your upper? all the work should be done by your legs so there shouldn't be any need for the big handles. thats all wasted space. I have never seen a reason for handles on ascenders. I think a croll for the upper would be fine and a much lower profile. I hate to admit that I really like the Kong futura but any micro ascender is great

Kevin ... Like that inside the boot strap ... no need for a 'chicken loop' with it either ... might give that a try

you actually were the inspiration with your efforts to never have to leave the system that your in. I tried a shunt as my upper ascender so that when I descend it would follow me but it is not made for the thicker diameter lines and doesn't run too smooth. Right now its easier for me to just pop off the ascender and then clip it to my saddle on my left side. If I am in a hurry or will be needing it again soon, I can leave the dynaglide attached to my boot or I can unclip it and stuff it in my pocket.

That is a wicked cool footloop idea!

Putting Kevin's footloop photo here so you can see it without clicking the attachment:

Because its the only ascender I had, Mr. Trapper Keeper. Kevin, only you would think to incorporate 3 ring binder technology!
