My latest effort!!

Small Beech tree take down. SOme rigging, some chucking. Also I had to cut a limb back on a neighbourign tree so I took my spikes off and nipped over there to do that.

Nothing worked quite right on this tree, rope angles were not great, my climbing was poor, we just got it done and went home! Made what I could out of the video footage.

The job was chip on site and leave all the wood, so just a quick in and out job with no clear up.

Nice! Are you the owner, employee, or , contract climber?
I noticed you took your spikes off before you swung over to that branch. Why? Was that coffee in that mug?!?!?
Thanks for posting. I always learn new stuff from your vids.
I would love to climb a Beech some day.

Beech are the best to climb! Your missing out!

Never drank coffee in my life, tea for me, all day long.

Took my spikes off cos I had to go and prune the other tree, just shorten back one low branch on the far side of it. Did it from my original anchor point in tree #1, but no spikes for pruning right?

So spikes off, jump over, prune tree, down for lunch, then retreive spikes from access line and continue with original job after lunch.

I'm the owner now, but have been employee and contract climber in the past. Was much fitter as a contract climber!!

nice job, you made that look easy. and i dont know what your talking about with poor climbing. did a mint job

Ah, thanks! I know I struggled and fought with it all day, ropes tangling up with rigging lines, branches hanging up on stubs, etc. etc. Some days thigns aren't quite right.

I edited it all out to make something entertaining ish, all the rest is saved for a "how not to" video later on.

Nice video. My 3 1/2 year old daughter watched it with me. She asked if he was going to drop it on the puppy..I kept telling her you wouldnt. She was so happy at the end

That puppy is an 11 year old mutt that can hardly walk in the mornings, by 3pm he's ok again for a while.

They say dogs take after their owners! Some truth there I think!

Rupe,

sorry but I had to stop the video after 40 seconds because no music starting playing and it was too boring.

I'm suprized anyone finished it.

(inside joke)

but honestly I did stop it... too boring for me tonight, maybe I'll watch it another day when I have absolutely nothing to do....

The music standard has been set so high! I'm waiting for John Williams to compose something especially for me.

It is a boring video this one, I wouldn't bother watching it if I were you.

Like the detail on the climbing and rigging systems.. also nice example of balance point rigging.. very little movement after break away..

AS far as video goes, lack of music is a drag as is all the repetition in bombing chuncks etc... Still nice work, even if you did edit out the hang ups... (there was once piece were the lowering line came over top of your climbing line, but no big deal)...

The only time I'll tie into big wood is just before the final descent... that way there is more friction on the tree and less on my climbing hitch.. Big John used to always use a munter on the pull line and remove his climbing line for the final descent.. that was pretty slick.. Why do you single line the final descent? Seems prety hard on the friction hitch...

Keep up the good work.

I had a figure 8 under the hitch, so no wear on the hitch really, and the stem is too large for friction saver so single line is quite an easy way down. If there had been a peg there i couldv'e used that.

I try different things at different times, so no real reason or pattern behind my methods.

I like a munter on the pull line too, but its not best practice so I probably wouldn't show it on a video.

I thought it was cool too. I see what you mean about the rope angles. Seems it was leaning away from the house or something.
Lighting was kinda dark. Anyway to brighten things up over there?
