Municipal Arborist Test

Just passed my ISA municipal arborist test. (after the second attempt ‍♂️) I have been taking and passing exams my entire life. I've always considered myself a very good test taker. I bought and studied the manual, read some of the additional texts that they suggested, brushed up on old resources I had, and leaned on my 7+ years of experience in the field.

I'm telling you this test makes no sense. Very ambiguous questions that do not correlate well to the study manual. Has anyone else taken the test and felt the same way? I've taken the ISA certified arborist and TRAQ test and felt they were a piece of cake, this test in contrast felt like I was throwing darts to answer half the questions.

Haha I was just messing with JD. i could barely get through reading the cert requirements before I was lost. Municipal is in my sights though so the original post is good insight

I thought BCMA was stretching to make it hard in several questions. I don't remember the exact circumstances, but remember thinking "just ask the friggin' question!" on several occasions. But maybe that was part of their goal to see if you could sort out the junk and get to the point???

Needlessly difficult questions at times. For example, you need to know what soil tests to have a lab run, but memorizing the units of measurement that some results are reported in seems a reach to me. Units and explanations on results are usually provided or easily looked up.
