ms150T not shutting off

My ms150t not shutting off. Sometimes if I rev then switch, it will turn off. Took handle cover off, cleaned contacts...same problem... maybe the ignition module? Any advice would be appreciated

I have had it happen 2 times. 1 was a damaged wire in the electrical loop that grounds the motor. The other bolt had backed out and the saw was not grounded. Dealer was very helpful.

Sounds like the typical problem of a used ms200t, or even an 020t...less than 3 inch chunk of wire gets molested over time then breaks.

Thanks for the advice. My Stihl dealer is an hour away, but maybe they can fix it while I wait.

Yup follow the yellow wire. It’s grounded on a bolt that likes to backout. At least that’s what the problem was for me. It’s on the clutch side under the plastic on the body of the saw by the oil pump. I had to pull the clutch to get mine. If I knew where to look it would only be a 15-20 min full repair (taking my time). However I had to pull the whole damn thing apart first...

evo, I took the wiring harness out (yellow and black wires) and reinstalled and now it works. I bent the spring steel clips to make a firm contact with the brass pin

Nice! looks like your issue was in a different spot than mine.. Need to be careful of all that linkage, it can be a royal pain in the ass if you bump it and cause it to fall apart...

You did it! I just had mine do the same thing. Nothing a little compressed air couldn't handle with the ground loosened up.
