more fun with knucklebooms

Had some big tree failures about a hour northwest of me. Having some fun with Knuckleboom play the claw game, some Tresure hunting today in this toy chest. I was subbed in to remove the tree from the barn with the crane, and as a tie in point for a climber to safely hoist totes to safer of family heirlooms this fella had in the upstairs of this poor barn. Started with the Mecanil sg160 head so the chain wouldn’t cut into too much beyond what I grabbed as it went through the wood, lots of wire , Metel and shingles. Finished with the sg220 head and 25 inch bar just barely making some cuts and narrowly missing all the stuff you don’t wanna hit with a chainsaw lol

Little bifurcated white oak in a deck. I get a lot of the no drop zone trees around my area;) Matted across the bricks just for show really, I wasn’t too concerned my little 44k crane was gonna crush them out! Short jacked both front stabilizers to 75 percent of thier full length out. 99 degree day high humidity zero wind, so I had my battery makita blowing at the rad, doubt it helped much lolIMG_6969.jpegIMG_6972.jpegIMG_6974.jpegIMG_6976.jpegIMG_6979.jpegIMG_6986.jpegIMG_6989.jpeg

you're a brave man taking that truck on that driveway

I agree :)
it pays to have Toyo superwides tires and not be a 60k pound crane
plus after checking out well noting the few small preexisting cracks With home owner and catching their attitude was non concerned if some more occured, I got more brave. Plus my contract states I’m not liable for ground or driveway damage, obviously we always take reasonable measures to ensure our good work.
Luckily thus far I’ve not had issues with that sort of thing, yet!

3 different Knuckleboom jobs today
One white pine failed laying on steep roof
In and out hour or so on that job. Then my team went and finished some stumps and clean up from other work we did I was onto north end Long Beach island to lift a king bed / box springs into second story deck under the over hang covered area I might add. Other crane guys looked and turned it down, must’ve been stuck cranes. ;) After that sectional couch. Then beach haven to lift and set #1500 steel header beam for my builder buddy mad dawg framing! Easy day for the old girl

Yeah buddy! Looks like a great day! I’ve done a few ridge beams and the builders seem to like the reduced swing of the knuckle over the stick. Positive placement I guess? More control?

I also did a piano move that your mattress job reminds me of. Had to lift it off a second floor deck below the third floor deck. Stick crane guy didn’t want it.

Funny you say that . Mad dawg shared that sentiment yesterday. Never had a knuckleballer before me , just sticks crane. I’ve done half a dozen lifts for him now. He said he just feels more comfortable with my crane. I love the ability telescoping under obstructions lol

The builders got the best of me today different sites having more fun with Knucklebooms whilst my guys got to play in the shade, pruning out of the spider lift !
Thousands of pounds of beams and building materials safely hoisted with my little fingers lol
