Metal Versus Plastic Rakes

We use metal and we are about 110% faster than we would be without them. If I see a plastic rake, it's going through the chipper......

I carry both. Each excells at different things. If I can only have one I choose metal because metal tines work best for flipping twigs out of crevices and skimming junk out of rocked beds as well as being best for moving large quantities of broken deadwood. Plastic cleans up fine stuff better and sweeps pavement more efficiently.

That's the way to do it.

As I was pruning an oriental style pine in Sherwood, Oregon a few days ago, this topic came to mind as I was raking the fine crushed gravel paths, considering what a fiasco is would be to attempt the clean-up with a plastic "bulldozer" rake.

The metal rake was the only one that could be considered practical.

But then on pavement in Lake Oswego, day before yesterday, a plastic one might have been quite a bit faster. Although, having to use a blower either way, closes the gap.

So you probably have the most efficient system - both rakes.
