Melted Arborwear

Whelp, I did it again. Got a little too close to the muffler on the stump grinder and burned a hole in the side of my tech pants. Now all 3 of my tech pants that Ive owned for the past five years or so have at least a little hole from something hot. I cringe at the thought of my pants catching on fire. Sometimes in the heat of the summer here I feel like they might just spontaneously combust and melt on me like a cheese on a burger. The era of the tech pants might just be over for me...

I seem to recall hearing in EHAP training that synthetic fiber clothing was not allowed on line clearance personnel for this very reason. Any truth to that?

I don't recall hearing it in our EHAP course, but if you get juice running thru you doesn't matter what type of clothing your wearing, going in one way and coming out another regardless. As long as you keep the max. approach distances by the chart you'll be fine. I wear my tech pants around conductors all the time. No probs. I've melted my tech pants as well grinding this year! Crappy, but lesson the learned hard way.

I prefer the original tree climber pants actually I love em and I wear them here in the tropics don't ever feel hot and I have two tech pants but they feel too light weight i am a commando man and I like the protection of the canvas originals. A little off thread but just my two cents wear the tech's occasionally for prunes though. Actually I wear them with the wife to dinner sometimes not the one's for tree work though, have lots of the lightweights also. Have not a pair of jeans in the closet.
