Mb vs. Nt onyx

So I'm in the market for a new saddle I've run the sequoia and sentinel but Im not a fan of the new bridge on the petzl I've looked at the tm light but I don't like that bridge went to the local dealer today and tried the onyx on and I really like the way it fits seems the leg straps will make it a lot more comfortable than just about anything else I've worked with so far my question is what is the difference between the onyx and the mb

The MB is based off of the Onyx. my understanding is the MB has a little different geometry to the upper dee's, and different lower suspension on the leg loops. Both saddles the leg loops can fit snug around your thighs, but he MB seems like it could be easier to adjust and dial in. The MB leg loops open opposite so it could be easier to get in and out of? or just different.
I love my Onyx and actually like it more than my TM. But the first one I ever wore I was surprised at how much I disliked it, I had to get the extra padding not for comfort but for fit. The Onyx is NOT a removal saddle if you use the hip DEE's, and I wish the rigging plates were rotated differently with the suspension going through the big hole leaving three forward facing.

Other than that I think is just some back pad tweaks and gear org options.

Anyone know if MB is now made in house or New Tribe is no longer making them?

I bought my MB about a year ago. Maybe a bit longer.....hard to remember.
evo hit the nail on the head. I love my MB. Some of you know, I have a few old physical injuries. The MB has taken a lot of discomfort out of the equation. It fits well. I too combated the choice over the MB or the Onyx. I do not regret my decision. It seems the MB has been tweaked by August for the arborist world. I ordered mine right off his sight. It was the only place I could find one.

Is the placement of the hip D’s any different than the onyx on the MB? At first fly the sequoia seemed like the perfect saddle for me - back pad very short in height so fits perfectly on my pelvis without digging into the hip ball and socket joint, but the hip D’s are intolerably placed.

As a removal guy who has spent a lot of time in both, my personal reference is the Onyx. If you are on the lower range of the waist size, and are willing to spend some time dialing it in, the Onyx can be a supremely comfy saddle..

Things I personally didn't like about the MB-

I found the MB back pad too large, which was a deal breaker for me. I could never get it to hug my hip/pelvic girdle, which is essential to a truly comfy ride. IMHO the TreeMo S.light is king in this respect.

The MB leg pad buckles are on the inside of the thigh. No thanks...

Not a fan of the gear storage layout on the MB.

I should add that I never have seen a MB in person.
kinda to touch down on what Rico said in his waist belt complaint about the MB is why I had to add the leg pads on my Onyx, I have chicken legs
I’m 155 and just about 6’
The gear storage was enough for me to go with the onyx.
I have HEARD the hip dees on the MB stick straight out in a more traditional fashion.
The hip dees on the onyx are slightly downwards facing making a horizontal flip line while weighted slightly uncomfortable
I don’t know I must have gotten use to it as it doesn’t bother me as much

Ive had the MB almost 2 years now and love it. Never had any issues with inside leg pad buckles. That configuration makes it a step in saddle. Leg pad adjustment is critical to how the waist belt rides on your hips. By far and away the most comfortable saddle i have ever flown. I am 6'4" and 290#. And a few weeks away from 68 trips around the sun.
Edit:
As far as stepping into it, i have an dajustable bridge that is long enough that i can extend it and drape the bridge over my neck like putting on a jacket. That way there is no stepping into anything

Can the rigging plates be taken off and put back on so the big hole is open and facing forward? On MB and/ or Onyx.

Not without ripping the threads out of the straps to reweave them through the rigging plates.
And I’ve called and emailed new tribe asking if I can or even send it to them. No reply.. tried a few times too

also emailed monkey beaver to see if I can customize the gear racking and no reply

When I was going to order my MB I emailed August about some minor mods and the answer was "no mods" . That is one thing that makes the MCRS/VALIENT zuch a great saddle.

And there you have it. The TM if totally customizable. A huge Pro. There are very little cons except it is not a big guys harness.... Has the most range of motion of any saddle out there another huge PRO.
Yea, but the TM has....Velcro :vomito:
And the buckles are trash.

Pros and cons to every saddle.

I hated the Cobra buckle on the waist of my old TM, from 2014 I think. After everything was thoroughly broken in, it was still difficult to get it tight enough and it would loosen a little.

I took the buckle off and sewed on a different one from Singing Rock. Much better.

Still got that old TM, but my go-to saddle now is the Buckingham Ergovation. Absolutely love it.

As someone who loathes velcro, it is a non issue on the TM.

Agreed. The waist buckle sucks on the regular TM... One of the reasons I feel the TM S.light is superior to the regular TM...

As you said, no saddle is perfect for everyone. Internet opinions are like asshole, so it is always better to fly before you buy when it comes to something as personal as a saddle.

The TM has Velcro only under the waist and leg pads, does that really matter?

I've never had any problems with the buckles.
I was really just teasing. I used to own a TM for a short while and had no issues with the velcro....it's just not something I care for on my saddle.

I did find the buckles too small for my liking. More specifically the release tabs.
