How many of you have used the new Marvin Bull Head Pruner with a 1-3/4" cutting capacity versus the traditional Marvin PH4R Pruner?

I was wondering if this pole pruner has a wider profile which could make it more difficult to fit into tighter areas which could be a problem even with its larger cutting capacity.

I've only held it at Expo and haven't gotten one for pruning yet. It seems like it will still make a good cut like it's little sibling. The physical dimensions are really not that much bigger considering how much bigger the capacity is.

As soon as the purchasing account is setup I'm going to order the Bull. Lately most of my pruning has been for head clearance over sidewalks and roadway clearance so I haven't done much climbing. Having a bigger pruner head will make things faster.

A 1-3/4" capacity pole prunner? Bypass blade? Hydraulic yes, but truly by hand it can only be done with the blade entering the stem through the tension side only.

I will grant the ratchet style pruner heads can handle that size of cut from the pressure side.

Either way a big cut for a manual pruner head.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes blade on tension side is important, but moot if the branch is stubbed off first (which I often am too dumb to remember).

my barnel opens 2" and works well.

my florian same and the ratchet does help a lot.

sectional poles are extremely inefficient compared to telescopers.

I get a lot of work out of the Corona bull pruner, 1 3/4", and have no problems cutting through with clean cuts. Will be getting my new Sintung pruner with a 2" cutting capacity next week.

What telescoping pole is strong enough for the Marvin Bull or big pruner?

Jameson's 7-14', probably. is the marvin compatible with jameson?

barnel pole works for barnel's 21 footer, florian's is ~7-14', and of course silky has the new 20' pole pruner too.
