I use a ascender with a lenght of prussik rope attached to the bottom hole of the ascender,On the rope i threaded a lenght of hose pipe to keep the loop open similar to what Tom done.
I use it with a normal climbing system ie Blakes if im away from the stem & am unable to body thrust with it.
