Major Decision

I'm interested to hear what you guys are using for invoicing, taking credit card payments and accounting software that allows you to file quarterly tax payments. Is there a one stop shop for this. My invoices will likely be single item billing. Crane services. I don't need payroll services as I will be the only employee of an LLC so from what I understand, I can just withdraw money from the biz account and put it in my account with no need to show income since it will be filed under my personal income tax anyway.

Have you given any thought to hiring an accountant? I know a couple small business owners who have. Could be worth your while, and I'd trust "my local accountants" answers over an online forum. Not saying you wouldn't get good advice here, but I wouldn't bet my $$$ on faceless names in a forum unless I had someone to back it up ... someone I know has my best interests at stake.

I use QuickBooks. Wicked easy to use.
And I also got an accountant which I think was worth my while

I use Jobber for keeping track of jobs, bids, invoices, and AR; an accountant to keeps track of the book keeping and accounting.

Steve I don't see anything alarming. It's just little things that may need tending to that aren't readily noticeable. Last fall my partner lost the drive shaft on his tandem log truck. The spline had a fracture and it ended up shearing off. The tow bill was 8 bills, (luckily it was an empty truck), and the repair set him back another 2 grand or more. His truck has been worked way harder than the one your looking at. I'm saying if you can I think it wise to have someone knowledgeable to look it over. You'll succeed I'm sure. But these big trucks demand big coin for repairs and maintenance. I'm definitely looking forward to your Va tree-mek thread.

I wish I could find someone up there to give it a once over. I still have to talk to westminster tomorrow to make sure he thinks the truck is good. I dread the travel to go get it and bring it back to MD Who in their rite mind wants to drive through Chicago?

You have to time Chicago right, no rush hour around the city. You could also head west past Indy and go north from there avoiding Chitown. Or stay the night in Chicago and eat and drink like a pro!

You can stop here and I'm sure many others along the way would offer a place to get some rest. I'm trying to figure the logistics on a road trip to Oregon later this year. It would be simple but my wife wants to tag along

Yeah looks like it has a 10 speed split shift like my crane, pretty much identical except that's got a Cummins and mines got the Cat. I haven't driven split shifts for 16 years til I picked up my crane, the joy that was to learn again through the hills of PA and NY!

You might want to see how much shipping would be. Sometimes it is not worth saving a few bucks to drive it across country. We shipped two bucket trucks this year on a lowboy, came out to just over a dollar per mile.

It was worth the peace of mind knowing we would not break down on the road.

My partner has been driving big trucks his whole life. I wouldn't mind taking a trip with him to look it over. He's not a mechanic but I'm no stranger to wrenching. It is the busy season but if I can help I will.
