lurking women, care to introduce yourselves?

Hey everyone! I'm Carly and I live and climb in New York City. I'm currently in the process of trying to become a professional tree climber and am interested in finding more climbing buddies and women who have actually made it in this industry. Thanks for existing WOTT!

Welcome Carly!

This is a great community of arbs. And

they are all way less scary than they pretend to be!

Hi Carly, best of luck to you with the tree work job hunting. Keep pursuing it even if at times you have doubts or there seems like there arent many women in the industry. We are here, and climbing for a living is so fun, interesting and rewarding that it is well worth the challenges.

Hello all,

I just joined treebuzz despite spying for the last couple of years, mainly because I avoid technology, but I couldn't stay out of the loop any longer. I climbed my first tree 5 years ago and have been climbing off and on until around 3 years ago when it finally became more consistent.

I'm Alex Julius, currently a grad student at the University of Massachusetts, but will soon be out in the big world job hunting. Most of my climbing experience came from interning at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, where we did all the pruning, removals, air spading, cabling, lightning protection, x-mas light decorating, you name it! Since then, I've been the teaching assistant for all the arboriculture classes, including tree climbing (my favorite class!).

Yes, I'm in Massachusetts, but I'm a southern California native and eager to get back to where the weather is slightly more consistent. Let the job hunting commence!

Also, I LOVE love LLLLOOOOVVVEEEE competitions (it's the sagittarius in me), so I've been enjoying competing with the New England chapter ladies for the last couple of years. It has truly been an honor ladies!

Great to meet all of you (via buzzboard) and I look forward to being part of the buzz family!

~Alex

(ack...a signature? how do I make that? darn you technology! you tricksy)

Hey Alex,
Great to see you have joined the Buzz!
Good seeing you at the Conn Comp and again at the Expo in Hartford!
I'm sure you will be a great contributer here on the Buzz.

Welcome Alex! Way to kick but at TCIA...when I heard they were having a separate womens division I had a hunch you would be taking the title! Congrats
