lurking women, care to introduce yourselves?

I have been so overwhelmed with work and also so in a funk missing what magic was found in the presence of great tree care providers.

There are photos and a TV show and a magazine all great opportunities for WOTT. I have much work ahead and hope I can connect all the dots and provide the necessary information, photos and such so that those who stand tall in the trees as arborists, tree care providers and women will be seen, heard and known even a bit more as the inspiration for future women of the trees.

What I'm saying, is I gotta get to work! I continue to be inspired reading the different women's stories... of all ages who understand the value of 'tree time.'

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this site, so I figured this would be a good place to start off!
I'm Vicki, and I am currently a second-year student majoring in Arboriculture and Community Forest Management at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture. It's a great program, and I absolutely love it (even though I'm the only girl in my year haha!)!
I've been climbing for about 5 or 6 years, and I competed in my first competition this past summer. I hada blast and can't wait until the next one!

I know a few people here already, and I would love to get to know even more women in the industry!

So where in the great New England area are you? Bear and Melissa are in that area, somewhere.

The ISA TCC will be in Rhode Island in 2009 - we all hope to see you there.

I live in southeastern Mass, about an hour south of Boston. For the school year though I live in Amherst. Great place to be! =)

If the ISA TCC is going to be where I think it is, then it's about 35-45 minutes from my house. And I am definitely going to be there!! I'm looking forward to it!

And is anyone here going to the NH climbing competition at the end of this month? I was wondering how many women were actually going to be competing.

Be sure to tell your classmates, everyone is welcome of course.

Attending any and all workshops or climbing competitions is the best way to stay current. You'll fill in the gaps in what you're learning in the classroom. Sure, it costs money and time. The payoff is in knowledge and knetworking. You'll meet more of the best folks in the world.

you go girl! just remember there are not as few of us as it seems. or..maybe percentage-wise there are, but you're not alone. yeah, that's it! cool that you had fun at your first comp - i hope it will inspire you to continue competing. i think i learned more in 2 yrs of competition and competition training than i learned in 5 yrs of production climbing. no disrespect to anyone involved, it's just a different animal.

Hey JZ...I thought I was the only one calling those storms with boys names himicanes!!! Great minds and all that.

A contingent from our Regiment and the Parks Dept. has just gone down to Turks and Caicos to do a month of cleanup after Ike trashed the place, The US coast Guard sent two C130s to take them there direct.

I'm heading to OZ next week, hope to climb at the QAA Arborcamp!
 
Well, hello everyone! My name is Selina, I work for a Tree Care Co. in Georgia. No, I'm not a climber...no I'm not a groundsman/woman (LOL), I'm the Office Manager/General Manager in training. I work for the same company that Jerry Kelly worked for - he recently had a fall from a tree and is permanently paralyzed. All of here have been affected by his accident. But he is such a "trooper," I'm sure that I wouldn't have the same attitude that he does. Anyway, I have been involved in the Green Industry all my life. Some of you may have heard of or even met my dad, Dr. Donald "Don" Marx. He is the CEO of Plant Health Care, Inc. and is the scientist that discovered mycorrhizae and the beneficial uses it has. That discovery was made when I was just a "youngster." I have been reading all the Blogs here on "the buzz" for about 3 weeks now, had just heard of it. I am HOOKED! So much great information being shared by everyone. I look forward to reading alot more and hopefully chatting with ya'll too. I also want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
