No pun intended.. wait, maybe there was..
I went from climbing on a blakes w/ no split tail for three years to climbing on a hitch climber pulley system with VT, and I've been using it ever since with no complaints or issues. I feel, however, that I would like to expand my knowledge of friction hitches but I'd like to hear some input from the community..
What combinations of hitch / rope (diameter/construction) / cordage do you guys rock? What do you like about it and what would you change?
I'll start with my setup..
30 inch 8mm stitched eye to eye ocean polyester tied with VT on Poison Ivy. I love it, I guess there's a good reason why this is the setup sold as a kit from sherrilltree. It's reliable, grabs readily, brakes smoothly, tends easily. Not much I would change about it really, maybe cord a longer length so that I could terminate the bitter end to the top loop on my pulley without that awkward elbow bend as the cord passes over the pulley cheeks.
