Long lanyard management ...have I over thought things?

If I could find a better way to keep a long lanyard tidy and compact, I'd go back to one but there is nothing worse than going through a canopy and natural redirect then fighting the tree's desire to hook every bit on my saddle.

I've never liked a ditty bag for lanyard management because one little snag can pull the whole lot out.

Since going SRT, I've switched back to a shorter lanyard because my redirects are accomplishing what I used to need a longer lanyard for - better positioning.

If I need a second, longer line for positioning or traversing- I have the groundie attach a short climb line on my tail.

It's working for now - but I do miss my CE.

I might just have to start cutting a little more before passing through redirects

Adding a ddrt system on the end of the climbing line seems easier to deploy then un-daisy chaining a lo g lanyard, then packing and stowing after use. All you gotta carry is a pulley and hitch cord and biner. You could do it with just a biner if you just throw on a Blake's.

Gecko for a few years now. Long lanyard and 160 ft or more of life line when bombing or rigging to kee[ your lines out of the action. Each grip can take up to 4 x.
It is easy to secure and grips tough. I couldn't live with out. I used to daisy chain then bag, I find this works for me. It is just so easy to handle.

I recently replaced the lanyard on a Weaver saddle and wanted a longer one. At first I was going to use the Cordomatic reel, but then found the Huskie mini bucket at Home Depot. Last I finally put together an idea for two cleats to hold rope. The cleats holder was too small for my lanyard, the reel needed some rust removal so went with the bucket. I have tried softer bags and didn't like fighting the soft sides collapsing as I tried to stuff the rope in.

Yes, a bit of MST in action. What? What is MST? I decided to call it a Matamorph Sleeve due to the initial inspiritation origin.
This is 5/16 Beeline cover on a 7.5mm cord. The bury is 6" and ends on the top with a tail tied in a overhand knot. It will slip slightly, but grab again after pushing the top down to descend. The cover must be stiffer than Tenex, as I never had slipping with it. To overcome this, I just gently pull on the tail of the overhand knot. This seems to tighten the knot and not loosen it if just pushed down like a normal hitch.
The lanyard and holder will only be used for rec climbing. For now.

Yeah, it's a Zillon... love that thing, too.

Nice, but pricey, is it adjustable under load at all?

I am using one of those chunky triangular grabs, I love the simple, fast action. It was cheap, and it will let me release it partially loaded, but it is also big and heavy.
