Lockjack vs hitchclimber

Location

I have been climbing on my lockjack for a while now & I love it. However I find when it rains alot & my rope gets wet I revert back to a VT with hitchclimber as I find the lockjack becomes hard to get a smooth run out of rope when puting my full weight on it to move about. Dose anyone else find this?
I put it down to the relationship between alu/rope & water, I climb on yale blaze & new england tacheon & find the same reaction with both ropes.

I agree. The few times I have used my LJ in the rain I have noticed the same problem. Perhaps, some if it is the increased surface tension of the water on device and rope. I also believe that the grit that a rope stores internally gets pushed to the surface and causes uneven friction and excessive wear on the clutch.

Good two know it not just me. Other than that I find the LJ a great tool. I have heard alot of people put down the LJ though
through other people, I cant quite see it though apart from its prob on wet rope. I guess knots still rule in most conditions eh;) Thanks for post Tony. Keep on climbing safe:)

The side plate that the clutch press against also can be replaced & needs to be after on average 3/4 clutch changes I have found.

yeah holly i actually just saw that recently , thanks ! I am not a total fan of the thing. Every so often I bust it out for a climb or two and then put it back in the bag for a couple of months! I bought it when it first came out.....eh
