little technical problems/questions with this site

first question:
Tree buzz used to have little icons and smilies and stuff that was animated. Like Marks Devil tail would move and the smilie would clap his hands. For the last month or so it hasn't been for me. Nothing is animated on here. I was wondering, is it that way for everyone, or is it just my computer's internet program trying to make things faster for me? That's fine if tree buzz had to get rid of it to make things work better. just wondering if it was me.

Second: I tried to change my avatar picture thing. I made sure it's size is 80X68 and it was a jpeg file. How come I can't get it to change. Butch? you changed yours a week or two ago. what's my problem? I put the dot in the box too.

Thanks,

I'd guess you have your browser set to not animate images and that your cached copy of the old "avatar" is still considered to be authoritative, so your browser doesn't fetch it from the site when putting the page together for display.

The first solution, if being annoyed is what you want, will surely be found within your preference-setting dialogs.

The second solution would be to force a "hard" reload of the page. That may be accomplished by hitting the "reload" button. On some browsers, that's a "soft" reload, so you may have to do it while holding down the "shift" key to force a "hard" one. If it fails to update the image either way, the drastic fix would be to clear your cache (likely also amongst your preference settings dialog) first.

Wow, thanks guys!

I will try what you say Glen.

Thanks a lot!!!!!!

Cause I noticed a motorcycle forum i went to yesterday had all kinds of animation.

Thanks,
David.

Okay.

None of that stuff worked.

I called my computer friend.

He had me go to my tools; internet options, and delete all my cookies, temp cookie, and history. and change my MB storage thing to like 1 instead of 48 it was on so pages would be new every time. and a some other stuff i can't remember.

Well, that fixed the avatar thing. i could now see my new picture.

but still there is no animation what so ever. No smilies moving no tail on Mark's devil.

I've looked into every preferance i could on this site. i deleted this sites cookies for me.

I've logged out, shut down and restarted computer many times and did it all again.

still no animation on this tree-buzz.

Like I said other sites have animation working for me.

So, I don't know what to try next. I had a cool avatar with animation i wanted to use, but it doesn't animate for me.

thanks,

I had a similar problem a few weeks back./forum/images/graemlins/Screen_of_Death.gif Nothing animated on treebuzz on my other computer, but my laptop was fine. The answer was "Zone Alarm" my firewall. I would bet that is where your problem is. I had to search through a bunch of different screens, but somehow it had selected treebuzz to not animate(& some other options), but none of the other sites that I went to had issues. My advice check your firewall.

Woodpecker,

Thank you.

Wow, I will have to seek some help to do that one too. I'll call my friend again, no need for you to walk me through it.

I'll save that for another day.

I got a new Dell, but it's still in the boxes. Still using an old computer with dial up /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif.

I'm wondering if its the earthlink accelerator program; I think it seems to shut things down so the pages come up faster.

I went to the bike forum again. Smilies were moving for a while, then after a while of flipping through different posts, they all stopped moving but one. Then it finally stopped.

Again, thanks for helping,
David.

C:\My Documents\My Pictures\monkeyspank.gif

hmmm just trying different stuff here.

How do you guys put in different smilies and stuff that aren't available on this site. I try to copy and paste them, but the paste option isn't available?

C:\My Documents\My Pictures\animated stuff\rocketwhore.gif

And if I paste the file it doesn't work either. I want to learn.....

Re: little technical problems/questions with this

Should we be concerned about files named "monkeyspank" and "rocketwhore" ? :) /forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Remember, it isn't just rough and tumble tree climbers that come to the Tree Buzz Cafe.

Re: little technical problems/questions with this

Ha, ha, ha, NO.

Why the whore is in that description, I don't know. It was a smilie from another site that has a smilie guy shooting rockets. Whore has absolutely no part of it.

The monkey spank is a cartoon character that has a monkey over his knees and he's spanking him with his hand.

I'll e-mail em to ya.

I see your concern with those words though.
