Lipstick on a Pig?!

[ QUOTE ]
Politics is such a crock of... The media has more to do with who gets elected than the candidates.

I get frustrated with politics as well. Conversations like this bother me too. I usually try to avoid them.

And I do wonder how much the media manipulates the minds of the people. I speculate that the media has a huge impact of persuasion on the general population.--Unfortunately.

I'd rather see individual thinkers verses people who are indoctrinated from the slanted left media, chanting the same rhetoric. (A fancy word for B.S.)

its funny because i think thats how we all feel yet we all are brainwashed with different medias. I got brainwashed, so did you. Oh well, not much I can do about it now, everything I see or read or hear somehow brainwashes me. Thats why the trees are good. All this other nonsense that we overstimulate with like sports, tv, and elections, doesnt really mean all that much.

I do however grant myself to be amused and entertained by lots of things like the detroit pistons and barack mcain biden palin side show. I like going to the theater sometimes or a good movie, or a really bad one.

The cool thing with elections is that you sort of get to feel like you matter and your opinion is important. Thats a good time.

I like discussions like these because I honestly hardly ever meet in person someone who would actually vote for mcain and actually talk to them about it. a lot of cutomers Im sure will vote for the guy, and I might have some family somewhere that will. Sad.

most of the time i hang out with people like me and talking politics with them is kind of dull. so thanks treebuzz for the opportunity to actually meet some of you republican wierdos, knowing that your actually more similar to me than a lot of the people i see all the time. you look at trees.

It is fun, I can get a kick out of it, and on a person-to-person basis, it's usually an interesting sideline.

All growing up and High school, even college (ROTC), none of it mattered. Apathy to the whole affair because it had nothing to do with the immensity of life. Pretty much avoided the loudness of it, just wanted to have fun and study a little...and the gals.

Then Vietnam -the perceived one and much much later the real one. As an American, the normal one and not much later thee real one. Came back and here everyone still had the idea it was the perceived one. To this day.

Policy decisions do effect us, my wallet as well as yours. But more so, I have a son, and they'll effect him too, as his children become - if he can have them. Myths are great but reality is greater.

I'm enjoying the personna of a former man change from his humble reality-effected mode to this campaign win-at-all-costs, a soul sold out, and a terrible fall from grace...I feel sorry for him. The gal on the other hand...

Drill now and more, keep thinking we're out abroad doing good, that if we can't see why everyone elsewhere is hating us more and more, we'll never understand what and when the walls will come tumbling down. In the process however, we'll take someone's words for it because we fear and loath those who don't know the same God as we do, or at least what we've been told about.

I love people all in a room and laughing together and they all live a different life from one another.

I almost cried when someone sent me a clip of some events and a few speeches made at a place called Jesus Camp. It's part of Sarah Palin's denomination, connected to her churches, a member afilliation. They were forging an army out of these kids.

Indoctrination to dispell and willfully conquer those who think differently, those in education and sciences, teachers, coworkers, the law and even their own parents - if need be.

That's Kool-Aid being served, sweetend with strichnine, used by Rev. Jimmie Jones in his Jesus Camp in French Ghana so hundreds of Old Testiment believers could leave their sinful earthen bodies and ascend to God. They machine-gunned an American Congressman, two FBI agents, a Peace Corps volunteer and four locals before escaping the reality they made - for the parents of the murdered, the wives of the innocent, the children of the fathers and a promise from me that their kind would never again exercise the terroristic dictates of their particular beliefs. I should hope they burn forever in Hell, but that's succumbing to the way they think.

That's by admission and doctrine, Sarah (pigstick) Palin.

(ouch, eh?)

How many people have zipped-shut a body bag? How many have ever seen one, even an empty one?

It is kind of funny I was going to ask YOU about Obama?! And if you think he lies as well. You must remember these people are all politicians........It is part of their make up
Also I fully grasp and embrace the Ideas you outline about our constitution > I am not an idiot!! I am simply saying That The founders were in Fact Christians. They were informed by the judeo-christian value system. To deny that is to practice revisionist history. The God of the Bible is woven throughout the early documents ,architecture, and speeches of presidents. Educators, in particular liberal universities, omit this because of there own agendas. I would challenge you that you cannot slant fact!!! And whether you like Newt or not ( which I did not suspect you would),How do you argue with the facts? Or am I mis-reading your argument.Have the Guts to look at His cd re-discovering God in America. To be quite honest I was shocked at all of the references to God in this country. And oh by the way Faith is not a litmus test for me voting for someone!! If I thought a secular person had the right stuff to be a great leader I would vote for them !!
AS far as THe age of the earth stuff goes......I have to admit I just do not know?! It obviously appears to be very very old,and all of our science agrees with that premise. However if I believe as a christian that God created all of this ,and then found out later he did it quickly and the earth was younger then we thought I would be truely amazed but not shocked. Debating this topic makes for great conversation though doesn't it?!!
We as humans tend to be really self centerded and arrogant with all of our science and opinions! Something to contemplate...... 95% of the universe according to top physacists is unknowable........not unknown.........unknowable!! Wow let that sink in a minute.
Wilt, there are somethings i love to discuss and to contemplate,But that, I plainly do not know.
Thank you again for engaging with me in this spirited discussion i am not sure how much longer i care to go on with this though??????? I will continue to look for you on the Buzz.

From first grade through fourth I went to Catholic school. There are some parts of the catechism classes that I remember. One,in second grade, was asking the nun how the earth could be made in a week. Her reply was that the days that the bible use don't mean the same as our 24hour days. The writers were telling a story and they needed a figure of speech that made sense. She taught us that the stories were more important to learn from. Taking things literally wasn't the way to learn. This was my first literature lesson. The religious education that I got during those years gave me a basis of understanding. We were also taught to think and question too. I have no clue what order the nuns or priests were either.

Her answer to 'thou shall not kill' was a bit harder to balance for an eight year old. It was wrapped around a discussion about having a higher cause and making a difference between murder and self defense/war...with a right cause. Justifying that right cause got a bit fuzzy...but she did as good a job as can be expected when trying to teach rowdy eight year olds who would rather be out climbing trees or playing kick ball.

palin brings to this election distraction. if the neoconservatives can confuse the country long enough they stand a chance of winning another presidency. if people are allowed to focus on the problems the nc's created over the past 8 years they will vote them out.

as for her belief in God and war - well, there is a big difference between asking for God's guidance, protection, mercy, wisdom, etc. and claiming to have God's stamp of approval. which one is it with her?
