Tai,
I know R's go on about how they are for smaller government, but have you actually looked at the results of their policies? Our government is bigger than it was under Clinton, as is our deficit (significantly!).
This whole lipstick thing is just politics as usual. When McCain makes such a comment, it's an analogy, say the R's, but when Obabma says it, they cry foul. Jon Stewart had a whole segment the other day where he showed R's making statements about Hillary, then the same people making 180 degree turns to talk about Palin. I think fewer D's play this game, but I'm sure an industrious editor could duplicate the segment with the D's as the target. Stop listening to the BS and start looking at what the pols are actually doing.
McCain is running as a maverick, but he got to this place today by going against his history and pandering to the party base. Palin is an obviously cynical choice to nab angry Hillary fans. How many women did they have to sift through before they found one who was against abortion even in cases of incest or rape? A lot, I'm guessing, given her lack of experience and her obscurity.
I'm just as disillusioned by Obama. As soon as he got the nod, his talk of energy independence became talk of releasing oil reserves to lower gas prices. Suck it up, people! The American people have clearly demonstrated that the only thing that will make them conserve fuel is when it is too expensive. We face hard times; the sooner we adjust, the easier it will be for everyone.
McKinney / Clemente will get my vote, barring some pretty remarkable circumstances in the next few weeks. Go Green!
