We had a female English Mastiff that went 223 pounds... was like living with a moose. She also drooled a lot.
She's gone now, lived to be 13.5 years, which is very old for her breed. 7 to 9 years is more common. She didn't like beer, though. Good thing, she could drink a gallon and a half of water in a single sitting, on a hot day. We used a five gallon pail for her water dish. Big, brindle (black/fawn) girl... beautiful dog. If we had an acreage, I'd have a dozen of the things. These days, I don't need a snow shovel to clean out the kennel, so I don't think I'll ever have another one. Breaks my heart, they're a wonderful breed of dog if you have the room.
We went on a 4:00 AM run to the grocery store up in Columbus... wife is cooking fajitas, and I've got to put the battery back in the riding mower and spend the day mowing. All three properties need it. All that rain, the grass is growing fast. Still, beats the shit out of shoveling snow.
I may have to drive to Lincoln this week, and look for some decent beer.
