Lanyard set ups

I hope this is still relevant. I skipped to the end to write about my setup because I don't know anyone else using it. My main concern was ansi but, really it was weight. I have a 23' lanyard made of 8mil Beeline. One end is spliced with a plastic thimble onto a mickey mouse pulley (two points of attachment). The other hole of the mickey mouse pulley has a biner that connects to the saddle at the d ring. I use really small ultratech (3-4 mil) for the VT adjuster. It's really sweet because it's thin and doesn't stick at all, yet it binds without being set by hand or slipping. I have an aluminum ladder snap on the other end and I usually daisy-chain about 15ft. of it unless it's going to be clearly necessary...It's long, but nice when you need it. It's still lighter than the same set up using anything bigger and it's not gear intensive or expensive to make.

I use a length of Samson Static line (had it laying around), ISC mighty mouse quad lock (freebie from some Wanker) and a Trango Cinch. Since most of my work is out of a lift, it works well enough.

For climbing, it sucks. It's a PITA to get to feed smoothly and is generally not that great.

Whenever I get a round-to-it, I'll go back to an 11mm climbing line about 15' long, CMI micro, Petzel Am'D's, and a Beeline FP.

I use the ol' standby 2-n-1. I shell out the cash for the pre-spliced yellow tenex prussik from Sherrill, and scrounge a piece of 1/2" climbline. Sometimes if I'm doing bigger trees I'll use a longer piece of line (+-18'), oftimes I'll get frustrated and cut it shorter (+- 10'), sometimes it gets unbelieveably pitchy and I just replace it. The color is irrelevant. I put steel snaps with plastic thimbles on, using double fishermans knots. I can throw a dog leash snap and a micro-pulley on if I need to get sexy. Cheap, strong, replaceable... like me.

Wasn't able to get the pic together...Essentially one ear of the mouse connects the pulley to the Dring on the saddle and the other is spliced to the thimble at the end of the lanyard. That way the maximum length of lanyard is achieved...It's not that big of a deal, I guess, but it's lightweight, long, and I'm stoked about mine...

Swabish with a micropulley for the adjustment. Then a french prussic on the velocity rope that the caribeaner gets attached to. the prussic can be adjusted to slip tight around the branch.
