That small 5mm stuff is the 'tech cord' not 'ultra tech'. It's still made and is pretty good stuff, but it isn't the greatest for hitch cord use, IMO.

Work positioning harnesses are designed to support the user from the front, not the side. If the user fell they would be bent sideways...and maybe break...ouch!

This question might be for another thread, but does anyone know if it is safe to clip to the golden rings that the bridge is connected to on the petzl sequoia harnesses?

I agree, Tech Cord doesn't work as a climbing hitch. In a lanyard application I've found that it works really well.

What are your concerns about it's use as a friction hitch. I'm always interested in understanding limitations of gear.

Tech-cord is made by Maxim, the rock climbing division of New England Ropes. You can find Tech-cord at just about every store that sells rock climbing equipment. It comes in little 20' spools.

simple. tachyon, aluminium clip, mighty mouse biner with bailout cord tied in a distal, and an aluminum ring from the bridge of a dragonfly ....

edit I swapped out the HMS 'biner for an aluminum clip--easier to operate IMO

Why not just use a micro pulley insead of the ring?

I used to have a twisted clevis to tend slack until I realized my smallest pulley was lighter and more effective.

you can tie that cord right to your d ring, and capture the ring between the hitch and d ring. Run the rope right through the d ring can do away with the biner altogether.

Why not call Petzl and ask them! ;)

I rolled that way for awhile, but I like the versatility of being able to disconnect my lanyard easily.

I find that being so stiff it tends not to set, less you set it yourself. This comes with the use of several of the common knots. I've been flip flopping with different knots and sizes. I have found that the Helical Knot and 6mm tends to work fairly well on samsons velocity. I lock the loop end between the 2 pulley plates. And figure 8 in the open end.

This is OK as long as you use both rings. i.e. just as you would the side dees. It shows this in the "instructions" that come with the harness.
