Lanyard set up question

image.webp Any reason I can't use this set-up?
5mm maxim tech for the adjuster, reep schnur, rope slider?
Pretty sure that cordage is rated high enough, but are there limits to diameter?
Thanks in advance buzz

Nice, Jontree. I've an almost identical setup. I run the Reep with 2 different hitch cord...OV 6mm, and Sterling 7mm Cordelette. One has a Slider and the other has a brass swivel snap.

The only gripe I have with your setup is the length of the tails coming out of the knotted ends, especially with that cordage. it isn't very supple stuff, so either keep a diligent eye on them or re-tie them with longer tails (5x rope diameter is ideal), that stay that way after you load it up enough times for the knots to fully seat. That's the one thing I've noticed about that cordage...takes a bit to seat it and the tails shorten right up.

Climb on, bud!

At one time I was using the Tech Cord with only two wraps on the scaffold hitch An observant treeBuzzer pointe out toe that Tech Cord requires a THREE wrap I got a longer piece and retied

Here's a way to finish the ends of ropes, especially one with high temp cores.

Get your knot tied/dressed/set and leave tails much longer than you need.

Milk out some of the core and cut it off

Pull the sheath back over and milk it out smooth

Hot cut just the sheath and melt the ends together

This will leave to core floating independently from the sheath eliminating bunching and end raveling

Saw your thread good stuff. Not a figure 8, shizl rope slider. Really small and compact.
3 wraps w 5mm cord Tom, thanks ill give it a tree. Keep messing w it till its dialed

If I remember correctly the Treemagineers folks did some drop testing with tech cord a while back and severed the line it was on. I'll poke around and see what I can find.
