good find waldo....the foot ascender does look really small i wonder if that means its easier for the rope to pop out? the questions that haunt me

Re: Kong\'s foot ascender

Familytree owns every piece of tree gear known to modern man. What shocks me is that he doesnt already own the Futura hand and foot acsenders. And then one extra set in case something where to happen to the originals. HAHAHAHA!! Family I am just jerking your climb line!! I love Family's gear knowledge more than I love my own good for nothing wife.jk

How about the DUCK!!! http://www.kong.it/doc/KONG_DUCK.pdf

The Duck looks cool too! It works with webbing!

That foot ascender looks nice. As long as the straps will keep the mechanical ascender vertically in line with the rope, it will be a hit. I have the CMI foot ascenders and they don't strap on well and stay still.--I jumped on the purchase as soon as they came out.

It looks pretty much identical to the Pantin as far as functionality goes, right down to the the hole where you can put a small biner to prevent the rope from popping out. The frame design is a little chunkier in some spots and more minimal in others. I've always liked that it's easy to get the Pantin off the rope, so it's not a big worry for me either way, by the looks of it the "behavior" is going to be very similar to the Pantin.

Re: Kong\'s foot ascender

I don't like the hand ascender or the duck. To me a hand ascender is nice cause its easier to grip. What makes that easier than just gripping the rope? The duck looks nice if you like the Ropeman, I don't find a use for it so i wouldn't for the duck either. Nice design but lacking in function. The foot ascender looks nice though. I still don't have one but keep wanting to get one. I like Kongs ascender just am starting to find what has a usable function and which are just cool idea's.

Re: Kong\'s foot ascender

I'd still use the hand ascender but then again I never hang off of em.

Jamin, I have similar problems with my cmi foot ascender but not so severe that I would warrent me to replace it (and that says a lot)

Flash, I do have a bit of a gear problem. I enjoy testing things out and running equipment through it's paces, but most importantly I love telling y'all what's worth what. I don't have the years or experience to walk seasoned vets through removals or prunning techniques, but I do understand climbing systems pretty well and I find myself helping out climbers of all ages and experience levels to understand different climbing systems. I just wish I could start getting a break on the prices. These saddles are so damn costly.

I just got the sequia, so far it's okay, reminds me a lot of the bfll. A LOT. Definetly a difficult saddle to sit in for prolonged periods of time. I'm buying the bosun seat to see if it remedes the problem. Treemotion still the best IMO.

Re: Kong\'s foot ascender

Family, I love you man. It would be awesome if you could find a source for blackmarket saddles as well, then you could really save some dough. I wouldnt say you have a gear problem, it just seems you have a lot of it, thats all.

Re: Kong\'s foot ascender

I foresee some folks getting the hand ascender to put above their hitch while climbing DRT.

Might even be good for a ground man to use while pulling down a tree.

Also would be good for someone who is using a redundant backup over the top of the ascender any ways.

Re: Kong\'s foot ascender

I would most definitely give the hand ascender a try before condemning it. It has a unique look and is different but these things may be to its benefit. Some things that just don't seem like they should work, once you try, them can really surprise you.
