Kong rated rings. Safe?

I pulled out my Buckingham ring and ring friction saver yesterday. I know the Buck rings are made onsite in the US. My adjustable prussic that I bought through Sherrll has a spliced in rated Kong ring. What do you thing about the laser etched rated gear?

If I want to change the Kong ring, does anybody have an idea about a replacement for this small ring. I was thinking about a Lok-tite'd bow shackle, but this doesn't seem like the best bet.

Maybe its time to learn to splice tenex. I hear that its about the easiest to splice.

Seems like NE Tech Cord (I think) is strong enough to be tied, and would work in this application. I believe that this is what people use to prussic onto their lanyard if they want to wrap a branch SRT without crossloading their 'biner on a branch. Thoughts?

I had a similar experience I guess. I found an adjuster that I hadn't used much and it didn't have an etching or stamp on it. I sent that in with probably six other unmarked rings. I got all the rings back and my adjuster too...all Kong. I guess I was surprized but I probably shouldn't have been. I feel ok with the strength. Those web type friction savers are great for spar work with an adjuster because they don't tend to roll down at all.
I have an NE tech cord prussic on my lanyard too and my only concern is it's diameter. I can really feel where it's been after I unload my lanyard after an SRT application. Poison Ivy btw. Something of a dental floss dilema. lol. Makes sense that a FS adjuster made from this material would be fine but I don't know anyone who's using it.

I don't have advice for you about the ring. But tenex really is very easy to splice. Don't be afraid to try it. Plus it's cheap so you can afford to practice a few times before making the final product.

TreeStuff has the DMM rings, 4 different sizes to choose from. A ring is, by far, the best way to go.
Not a fan of any Kong product. Had a very surprising experience while 'break testing' some knots using Kong steel biners. I still have a Kong biner or 2, but don't use them for life support or when property is at risk.

I would rather use a DMM ring, but that would mean I would have to replace the spliced tenex prussic part as well, which I haven't learned to splice yet. I gather that its not too hard, easy even, but a business owner always has a hundred things to do.
