KM III DRT?

Re: KM III DdRT?

+ 1 rocket. best rope i have owned so far. grabs nice with a VT and wrench or in DRT. just enough stretch, the only down side is the rope has twisted core so it does tend to hockle up alot with the VT and DRT set up.

Re: KM III DdRT?

Cary gibson can you elaborate on this hockling as I know this is your favorite rope. I know it's been a while for you but does it hockle DRT or does it need a good milking. This is going to be my next rope when Luke gets the new colour. Just need your review. I kinda know the answer just want your confirmation.

Re: KM III DdRT?

Mine doesn't hockle, didn't even milk really. It has a different wiry feeling to it, which seems to eliminate a lot of that issue. Cary has been on it for quite a while though, so his input would be interesting.

Re: KM III DdRT?

kernmaster is noticably strechier, softer, and squishier than HTP, and WAY lighter too. I prefer climbing on my htp, but I really like the light weight of my kernmaster. I have only had the htp for a couple months, but so far it seems more durable than the kernmaster; the sheath is much tighter, and seems thicker. Kernmaster also holds knots pretty well.

I have never used KMIII, but i hear it is very similar to HTP?

Re: KM III DdRT?

I think if it is hockling DRT, than you need to either reverse or alternate your braids, as far as for me? it is a really good rope for both, but it shines for SRT.

Just ask Chip, he climbed a hank of mine while here visiting on his rope wrench.

the new Yale Luna is also a great SRT rope, been testing some as of late, love that stuff!

soon I will have some new Cherry Bomb rocket from AllGear in my hands, I'm betting it will be the "bomb" :)

cheers, and what up Swing? :)

Re: KM III DdRT?

All's good it has been a while we must catch up. Thanks for the review. Looking forward to the Cherry Bomb rocket. Love the name.

Re: KM III DdRT?

Actually derek, no i cant say that i have experience with kermaster. It does seem better to the touch than the others but it still doesnt strike me as supple, soft and friendly. Have you been climbing on it? Rich h loves it.

So what rope do you use for your SRT using the RW?

While I'm at it, what cord do you use for your hitch?

Re: KM III DdRT?

Kevin, the kernmaster is a lot more friendly to the feel then any other static line i've used. I used it for a month or two and loved it. Im going to try the 1/2 version sooner or later and i'm hoping that is much more supple in the hand. But it nots great doesn't get stiff and is light weight. Sometimes almost to light. (hard to get it to fall down through the tree where you want, when tailing your rope)

Re: KM III DdRT?

Cool, that is one thing for me i have been having a lot of grip issues i think from climbing a bit less. I just cant hang on to those lil ropes. I had that same too light experience with the escalator.

Re: KM III DdRT?

Looking to buy a non static line for my wrench. Anyone know if imori has more stretch than blue moon/ poison ivy? It's very annoying that the manufacturers don't publish the data.

Wesspur has good stretch spec for ropes they sell, they have Imori here:
Imori specs
Elastic Elongation; 2.4% at 10% ABS

...and Blue Moon here:
Blue Moon specs
Elastic Elongation: 1.4% at 10% ABS

Re: KM III DdRT?

Thanks for the info moss. Will be staying away from imori then, blue moon would be as much stretch as I can take. Tried out velocity with the wrench today and really liked it.
