I'm looking to move from friction hitches to mechanicals in some instances and am

Boy the name is a bit misleading.
Its designed to be a lanyard adjuster and grabs in both directions. Good for a double ended lanyard. The down side is- it takes 2 hands to adjust. Hence the reason Ive never tried it. To me, the beauty of a good functioning lanyard is the ability to adjust it with one hand.

I bought one back in October, great craftsmanship, good grabbing ability, but like you said, two hand adjustment. I am in the process finding other applications in my arsenal to use it in. A friend of mine who climbs for a company borrowed it a couple months back and tried in as a lanyard adjuster at work, liked it at first, but said it locked down too tight for one handing it. Had to stop and use both hands every time. Ive had the same experience with it. But it locks very securly and is a great design, just a two hander.

a friend of mine invented it and he loves it. i have a proto type and it sits idle unless im wrecking a small tree, then its nice for the double ended function and not needing a climb line to stay tied in. it releases with one hand but takes two to tighten.
