Yes, ring becoming dislodged and rope on rope was his concern.

He made a prototype X Rigging Ring that addressed this issue - as well as starting into several other innovations/inventions. Sadly, he heard the complainers and whiners loader that he heard those applauding his developments on our behalf.

I left carpeners twine in a tree for 3 months this past summer. It totally rotted away. There were little pink pieces about 6 inches long everywhere. It was as brittle as a cracker.

I think carpenters twine is nylon. It is not as UV resistant as Polyester (Dacron). Dyneema would be the best and that is what most Arborist Throw Line is made of, I think. To purchase Dyneema in 1/4 inch thickness is very expensive. I am thinking of a Polyester 1/4 inch to stay up in the tree and be a lot easier on my gloved hands when pulling up our climbing rope.

Interesting, I hadn't heard of the prototype, I assume it somewhat followed the design of a dmm thimble?

I'm probably stretching the boundaries even to share my gripe that we are pushing our inventors away. But I can share that from other inventors as well. Many put far more $ into bringing out a product or idea than they ever get in return. Take away the emotional reward and they're done.

Let's always appreciate what innovators /inventors do for us.
