Kentucky TCC 2013 October 18,19

Maybe we can run a "fun climb" on Sunday in the comp trees for the guys who aren't going to get a chance to run with the work systems they use on a daily basis and are most comfortable with?

The ISA influence leaves town on Saturday night and won't be back to enforce their rules that govern nothing but their comps til next year....what better time to get a bunch of DdRT and SRTWP climbers together to show that the only real divide between the two exists on the part of the ISA?

Danger....where you been?

Been busy with work. Its just Dad, bro, and I, but we've been busier than the last few years and a lot more productive with some recent equipment purchases. I drop in from time to time and try to post when I can.

We can go to Chris' house. The Shield of O'Bryan will protect us.

And to answer the other questions directly....

The KTCC will be following the 2013 revision of the ITCC rules. That means that the Rope Wrench (and I think the Hitch Hiker) will not be allowed in a SLWP system. To do otherwise would jeopardize the Kentucky Chapter's ability to send a climber to the ITCC to represent Kentucky.

Kevin,
You can still come to the party...

I wish there was a like button on tree buzz. I climb ddrt but have really been looking at srtwp with a hh or rw. i had a three trees to hazardous deadwood in a backyard about three weeks ago so i start up on tree and redirect my way into the next one then retie and so on. srtwp would have kick those trees butts. instead of working my butt off on three or four dry crotch redirects.

Hello Everyone,

A friendly reminder that the 2013 Kentucky Tree Climbing Championship is coming up! We are still set for October 19th in Louisville's beautiful Central Park with the setup happening on Friday the 18th.

WE HAVE REDUCED THE NUMBER OF CLIMBER SPOTS!

If you are interested in climbing you should send in your money and waiver forms (there are two) ASAP, since we are changing limit on the number of climbers to 30. Originally we had planned on having 35, but it ends up making the day too long for our event.

We are also looking for as many experienced volunteers as possible! Especially folks with Head Judge and Judging experience. If you can help us out we will be eternally grateful, AND you get a sweet shirt and a great party after the KTCC where you get to rub elbows with lots of other awesome Tree People!

Whether you volunteer or compete, you are GUARANTEED to have a great time!!!

Let us know you're coming!

Thanks everyone and we look forward to seeing you soon!

With just under a month to go, I am in need of volunteers and judges. Specifically judges with experience. We are hosting some high-talent climbers, and I need an ace team to get them through the day so that we may Par-Tay down later on at the Limbwalker World HQ.

Please let me know if you are interested in competing or helping out on the 19th of October!

PS. the weather is going to be fair to awesome.

Made my reservation for KY TCC, at Quality Inn; Phone: 502-638-6100.

Ask for Sales Mgr – John:
Mention KY TCC - - Reduced rate, plus 10% Discount.

Thur 10/17 $72/nite (w/ Tax = $83)
Fri 10/18 $77/Nite (w/ Tax = $88)
Sat 10/19 $77/Nite (w/ Tax = $88)

There are 4 spots remaining for this TCC.

If you ever wanted to compete in a TCC with the Legendary Drew Bristow, this is your time to shine. If you don't know who he is, punch yourself in the throat and send in your registration forms cause it's time to be a man.

Also, this year only, we can guarantee that there will be 0% Michael Dunn at the KYTCC. We are fine with that actually. Works better for all of us. No hard feelings or anything like that.

I don't have a complete list of 30 competitors yet, and will post when I do, but here are a few of our superstar judges:

Scotty Olson - Head Judge
Phil Kelly - Head Tech

Josephine Hedger - Head Judge A.R.

Chris Ahlum - Head Judge W.C.

Whiz - Head Judge You KNOW Where

Sponsors who have kicked out major swag for this TCC:

TreeStuff (of course)
ABR/ISC (Oh Baby!)
Arbormaster Prize Kit
Echo
Yale Cordage (Always supportive)
Pinnacle Arborist Supply (big ups to Pete R)
Your Mom
Highland Coffee (I know where it is)
Petzl

And so many more...

The food alone is worth the trip. Did I mention the food trucks and beer/wine sales at the festival that is running simultaneously with our TCC? Makes watching the Masters so much more enjoyable (if you like to eat and/or drink)

For those hankering for a piece of the past - The Accu-Arbor© Forecast for October 19th:

Participants of the KYTCC will awaken on the morning of October 19th with a renewed sense of purpose in their otherwise crappy lives. The sun will come up around 7:15AM, and by that time, the morning fog will lift, revealing a crisp blue sky that contrasts stunningly well with the vibrant yellows of Central Park's venerable Sugar Maples. Early morning will require a light jacket, as the temperature will dip to a low of 54F in the overnight hours.

Once the sun's rays begin to filter through the orange-yellow glow of Fall's ever-loving technocolor glory, short sleeves will be in order. A high of 78F is expected for the late afternoon.

In short, perfect f*#king weather for a TCC. Nothing you can do about it.

Any questions, ask me.

Depending on what d.i.c.k. means, you might be jeopardizing your ride from the airport and exclusive use of my 10 year old futon in the rumpus room.

Explain yourself, young man.

One week out, we are floored by the quality of volunteers and judges that have committed to the KTCC.
