Keeping park walkers out of your work zone

I was wondering if anyone would mention an accident or death. Do you have any details about it?
From what I've heard she walked thru the barricade as they were dumping a top. Smush!
She was my grade school substitute teacher. Nice lady but a bit flighty from what I remember.
I remember she was subbing gym class one time and we were having a puff ball dodge ball game ( ahhh the good old days) and she just walked out in the middle of the game and yelled "FRRREEEEEZ" as everybody was throwing. She didn't dodge anything. LOL

A month or so ago we were doing some work at a local park in a wooded trail area, most debris was beigg removed but there was an especially large tree they wanted us to drop across a section of trail they were permanently closing. I shit you not, no one had been walking that direction all day as we worked in other areas but within an hour of dropping it on the trail no fewer then 3 adults and several groups of kids climbed over it to go down the trail to nowhere.

The best was when I limb walked out to the tippy tips of a oak tree over a side walk in "down town"... I was removing squirrel chewed Christmas lights that were installed with a bucket truck and cable ties.. Some lady came to a screeching halt in the three way intersection I was nearly over, and started yelling at me for removing the tree... I was full reach in 1" diameter twigs with a pair of handsnips in my teeth and wires dangling from every carabiner on my saddle.
I pulled the snips from my teeth and yelled back, "It has the christ blight, and is diseased"
reply "OMG, I'm sorry! will you come check my trees for it?"

Wouldn't let me see your profile either?
I just tried as well just to see if I could, and I cannot see either of your profiles at present. I can see others, but your and @27RMT0N profile look like this:

Everyboby looks before every cut. When operating equipment we look around constantly. We close trails with caution tape, put up trail closed signs on 4x8 sheets of plywood with the date on it but morons still walk in. We just stop to stare at them and don't say a word. Fold our arms and wait for them to leave.

They know they effed up.

But to let someone push you aside, haha...no.

Oh and sometimes I bring my wife to send people packing when they are a nuisance.

University towns are the worst, especially very large universities in small towns. Filled with absolute morons and seems to be getting worse.

When I worked in Seattle, jobs on the University of Washington campus were always the worst...

I worked on a small college campus for about three years. My work zones were delineated with tall cones, 4' PVC wands painted HViz orange in the cones and yellow caution tape from cone to cone. my groundie would keep an eye out for traffic of course. We rarely had interlopers from the students or teachers, etc. Now...the grounds maintenance staff...whole other thing. I had to be a bit firm with them and let them know that if they came inside the ring they had to have on a HV vest, wear a helmet and drag brush...yuch yuch. They got the message...sorta.

I guess the students were a higher caliber than some colleges.

This was on a logging job, we were logging beetle kill in a campground/recreation area near a lake. I had a big pine all faced up, back cut in, line installed and the skidder was pulling it away from the property line that butted up to a residential area. I could see the backcut start to widen as the tree was lifting, glance out into the lay and there’s a man right dead center about 75’ out! I stopped cutting ran out and waved at the skidder operator to stop pulling, stuck the face cut back in the tree and then yelled to the man”get out of there! This tree is about to fall right there!” The tree was about 3 1/2’ diameter and easily 150’ tall. He just stood there and yelled at me, mad as hell because apparently we had drug some sticks into the trail he used to get to the lake. He could not see the danger he was in and finally the skidder operator who was the owner of the logging co really let him have it. “Get the f out of here you stupid sonofabitch!!” The guy got all offended and stopped off. I pulled the facecut back out, cut another quarter of an inch and dropped the tree right where he’d been standing. We didn’t have any barriers out, although that incident changed that policy all the nearby property owners had been notified by the park personnel telling them about the upcoming logging operations. But you’d think an adult with a smidgen of rational thinking would see the situation and have enough sense to not walk out in front of a big tree that has a big piece of logging equipment pulling on it and a man with a saw cutting it. Apparently not.

After Hurricane Sandy in Red Hook Brooklyn, a “tree crew“ from Jersey was felling a large London plane in a park and a very unlucky food delivery guy on an electric bike was crushed and killed. My understanding is that the crew did not have proper signage/etc.
