Keeping park walkers out of your work zone

... I started to remove another tree when out of the corner of my eye this man runs past the park employee directing people away, ducks under both of my outriggers, dashes through sticks and debris, leaps over my logs, runs past the chipper (that's operating), and continues running out through my cones and past the park police officer. Really?

This is definitely an Olympic sport ! This should be added to TCC’s to test a crew’s ability to deal with a pedestrian with a jail break mentality.

Maybe consider razor wire barriers and tranquilizer dart guns!

Actually, I have seen this problem work in the opposite direction !
Several years ago I was judging a climbing competition. The comp was over; ready for tear-down.
My event had several trees, with separate "saftey rings" setup around each tree. i.e. stakes & caution tape.

The "chief saftey officer" for the event, was in a hurry to complete the tasks.
He had volunteer available, & directed them to take down the ring around a very large maple.
There were multiple climbers in that tree, removing & dropping bells, flagging tape, etc.

The saftey ring is completely down, and an elderly "park walker" walks directly under the tree.
I'm 100 yards away at a different tree.
I blow my whistle, & yell "climbers stop !".

Luckily no injuries.

After Hurricane Sandy in Red Hook Brooklyn, a “tree crew“ from Jersey was felling a large London plane in a park and a very unlucky food delivery guy on an electric bike was crushed and killed. My understanding is that the crew did not have proper signage/etc.
Signage? Maybe not says an onlooker. But someone on the ground working tried to stop the guy on the moped or whatever it was if you read the article. Well, you can't stop stupidity. The motorist appears to have driven through the workszone despite a worker trying to stop him.

I mentioned a while ago a woman and a baby carriage walked fifty feet under me over a sidewalk as I was cutting s limb. Luckily I look before every cut. We had cones, caution tape and didn't matter. The law should take into account stupidity and throw out bogus lawsuits. If we could just get rid of silly signs that say don't put your foot into the chipper and alike we could be rid of a lot of stupid people.
