Jumping the void... for fun!

A good rock climbing friend talked me into climbing Devil's Tower last weekend. The route we chose had a traverse across a gap with a 400' drop. The traverse can be safely climbed but I heard rumors that people have jumped it so I took on the challenge:

Hahaha. No matter how much your brain says "DON'T DO IT" when you commit to counting to three it's always possible.

Have you ever climbed Bon Homme Variation? How does it compare difficulty wise to Durrance?


Funniest moment of the trip is after the climb when we were hiking back to the car a tourist stopped us and asked what was on the summit. I explained that it is a flat prairie area with lots of grass and rocks then my partner buts in and says, "and there is a heard of mini buffalo that is indigenous to Devil's Tower". HAHAHA, the look on their face as they realized he was joking was priceless.
