Thanks , I'll look for the video. Got a wraptor and I like it, just kinda heavy and bulky when I hike in

Amazing, Flex! You are going all in! With your willingness to lay out fairly big money on great equipment, I think you show a commitment to this line of work that bodes well for you.

I wish you every success.

As my grandma Swearingen would say, "some people got more dollars than sense!"

It's awesome to watch you move through the tree like that johnny, you certainly have that rope runner dialed in. You operate it like a boss. I'll need to put about ten thousand more hours on mine before I can move like that haha! Good to hear from you again!

Thanks for posting here, JohnnyPro! It's good to see you.

Tim

Nice video, too! I had to fire up the laptop in order to watch it, because it would not play for me on my Android based handheld computer. Nice job, and tell the cameraman that he did a great job on it too! He had to follow the action as you changed locations, and he managed to keep you within the frame nicely the whole time. Well done, all around.

In order to cure oneself from an illness- you must do what you believe is evil.
OK, just to clarify, I should kill, rape, pillage, lie, steal, terrorize. Alright, I know, I'm beginning to sound redundant. But seriously, can you give just a little more detail? I want to make sure I don't go into this half-hearted.

not trying to love or hate but are any of these moves possible on anything besides a rope runner? Bombing out at the end of a climb makes my job not work. Are these long decents realistic with hitch cord( rope wrench set up)? Cause if I can jam like that on a rope runner, anything else seems boring.

ZigZag and Bulldog Bone will hold up to that, but a hitch cord isn't going to like it. It doesn't exactly add to the rope's lifespan, either.
Keep in mind that a slight miscalculation carries a lot higher price tag than the same mistake on a slow descent. Just sayin'.

Well maybe I'm being an old grump, but I liken it to juggling a couple of running chainsaws in the tree. It can be done, but eventually everyone will decide it's an unnecessary risk, for the sake of a little showbiz.

And don't get me wrong Johnny, I really do love watching your stuff. I just don't think we should work spastically in the tree in our day to day jobs. I think we should take cold and calculated risks with our already dangerous profession, and visualize every move twice before finally pulling the trigger. I humbly believe that's the mindset that'll keep us doing what we love, until WE are ready to stop.

Having said that, I think you're uber-talented and have a flair for stepping outside that box we call "The Norm". I mean, it's kind of like watching Cirque du Soleil in that I catch myself saying, "How in the hell did he..?" when watching your vids. I've learned some useful techniques from your videos, Johnny. Thank you for that.

I'd like to think that Johnny Pro feels confident enough in the abilities he's developed with the Rope Runner to feel as though he is not risking injury by doing what he's doing. How to say this? That he is operating well within the limits of his own ability, and that he leaves himself a healthy margin for error each time he makes a move. Not being able to see things from his own perspective, some of his moves might appear to be more risky than they actually are.

I get your point, though, TreeLogic. Higher velocity means a higher risk of bad injury if things go sideways.
