Jesus>religion

Re: Truth

It really boils down to how high of a regard we hold scripture and our view of what truth is.

[/ QUOTE ]

There you go. That sums up the whole thing for me. I don't see the bible as the word of god. I see it as words of men, translated and retranslated, and as such I believe it is highly fallible.

There are some great stories in there, some great lessons, and some seriously messed up parts. It is a useful book for directing thoughts about what life is, but, for me, far from the only one.

This is the crux of church / state separation. If your bible leads you to believe something should be a law, by all means, push for the law. But when your only justification is "the bible said so," you won't win me over to support it with you. Ever. No matter how many bible verses you use to "prove" it.

Re:This really puts my life into perspective......

The cool thing is in the END only one of us will be correct.

I am very encouraged by some of my brothers on here...very! thank you to my brothers in Christ for your testimony!
Let me add this to those in unbelief or those who judge believers as weak or believing in a fairy tale of some sort.
I (we) do not come to this place by stumbling upon it or by waking up one morning and simply saying " i believe" Many of us including me have a powerful testimony of how we "arrived " at the place of knowing.. What you need to know about those of us with or in faith, For us there simply is NO argument!! WE (I) actually know God. Because I believe and pray and try to seek his face.. he allows me the privledge of watching him work...He orchestrates people and events he proves himself everyday to me even though i do not desrve it! I used to do drugs i was in a hard core metal band and was a sexual mess...I was not a fan of God AT ALL!!!!! when people started talking about him i would usually roll my eyes and get away as quickly as possible!!
When (most) Christians try to explain God to unbelievers many make the mistake of arguing or of coming off as judgemental....The Reason I (we) should be arguing is simply this.... We care and love those in unbelief , about the condition of your eternal souls..certainly we are more than just a bag of protoplasm??!! I want people /friends/family/ and fellow buzzers to have that relationship...Simply this- To know God...To know salvation...people should not get mad at us for that..I do not want to "club anyone over the head" or "FORCE" God on anyone" I pray all the time for people to come to know God...out of care and because the Lord asks us to share...its our commission.
So be well friends. Most of these crazy Christain dudes would jumpp up and down if any of you came to Christ...Angels in heaven rejoice when it happens!!

[ QUOTE ]
People have alway rebelled against God. In your heart you & I know you are rebelling now. Like a spoiled boy trying to get the attention of your father, I'm telling for a fact I know He is Real and you are on the verge of admitting it

[/ QUOTE ]

In the above statement you seem to be implying that all people are born with a belief in the christian god but choose to rebel against it.

A child is not born with an inherent belief in god, much less specifically a christian god. Your suggestion of genetic faith is just another example of your religion's success with brainwashing people.

There is no default setting of a belief in god and I think that you'd also find that even for 'enlightened' christians, belief in a 'god' gene is leap of faith too far.

[ QUOTE ]
In your heart you & I know

[/ QUOTE ]

In the heart of every man there is firstly the will to survive, then there is the will to do good and the will to do evil, these are the default settings for mankind and if you know your history, christians certainly dont have a monopoly on being good.......especially towards each other.

PLEASE CHANGE YOUR FAMILY FOR GENERATIONS!

[/ QUOTE ]

What about couples who can't have children? where does that fit into Driscoll's pathetic plan?

I know a christian couple who can't have children, how are they going to live out Driscoll's BS ideology?

'PLEASE CHANGE YOUR FAMILY FOR GENERATIONS TO COME!'

this is the kind of propaganda normally reserved for giant billboards in North Korea.

Re:This really puts my life into perspective......

DUDE! im sure there are people in that mans congregation to whom he ministers who cannot have Children....he is not excluding them!!! he is making a point that coming to faith will effect a families legacy....YOU are WAY to smart to need that explained...way too smart....

Re:This really puts my life into perspective......

I take my nephews to church to change their future from being drug addicted sh-t birds like their drugged out mother and father. Jesus can change your whole family if you let Him.
