Thanks Glen.
For the entire post:
The key to sharing ideas is to hold the door open rather than to shove someone through. That's even what I take away from reading James 2.
For those of you who need the credentials, my spirituality was corrupted and is being restored. The fundamental powers that remind me I am not the centre of the universe that I once thought I was are these: rocks are hard, water is wet, fire is hot, and gravity sucks. Add to that Zaccheus was the only tree climber to get mentioned in the NT. I know seriousness needs to have its accompanying humor.
When explaining, for example, compartmentalization to a lay person it may be my option to preface it with "By God's design...", "Through the evolution of woody plants...", or just "This is how it is..." . Is this for my credibility or to score points? YES!--but on only one account, the latter. I do it so that someone else my be [keywords:] open and attentive to what follows. It all comes from the heart because I work with trees and see too much abuse through ignorance. Its my way of giving back. Called for in James 2, and in Bill Wilson's 163 paged tome.
WWJD is very portable and can be used at every action. [WWJD: "What Would Jesus Do?" I didn't understand that secret code for a few years and thought it was some sort of underground radio station's call letters]. Used at every action has been useful, as a tool from the [keywords:] inside job, and not the gavel from a judge. Hold the door open, but I'll walk through on my own, thankyouverymuch. The people of other views have their way of peacefully contributing to the positive motion of the world, too.
The call for the latter part of James 2 is to be known by the way one acts. People, like leaves, do better when facing the light. Not talking about light, quoting light things, but facing and doing.
I may be living in the Bible Belt, but I fear its trousers have gotten a bit big.
Trudging the road to happy destiny,
