........and rescuer of distressed damsels and slow climbers.
Jamin came and helped me out doing the climbing on a couple of big Cottonwoods.

This is the second, smaller tree. Jamin isn't normally a contract climber since he runs his own show but if you should ever need to team up with someone and he is available I think you will be delighted.

We had three cotton woods on our block and one of them my dad and I took down. It was pretty big....I think I have a picture of the trunk once we dropped it.....

It was a tough day. No walk in the park, but still fun!

And working for Justin was great. He is professional and generous. I'd work with him any time.

One of the 2 trees has a lot of decay in the tree. 1-2 years max and it should come down (for public safety reasons). Stay tuned!!!

Right Justin?

When I saw the picture of Jamin hiking up the side of that big cottonwood, I threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Way to go Jamin, Thanks for sharing Stumper!

i just went to your site jamin. nice site i watched the crane video awesome. i have one on vhs i have to see if i can get it converted. keep up the good work

FWIW. My ascent was a combination of a SRT with DRT. I used 1/2" static KMIII anchored to the tree with a porty. This was groundsman ready to rescue me if necessary (during the ascent). --The rest. Well, I was on my own... I used the Kong with a Petzl micro grab for a back up. Attached below the Kong was the Rock Exotica swivel pulley, which my friction hitch was in. This gave me the advantage to descend, if I needed to and/or work on my way up, if I wanted to.

The photo shows the same set up from a different climb earlier last year, but you will notice the Blaze rope instead of a static line...

Don't you mean,

Jamin Mayer, "THE COTTONWOOD KING"

[/ QUOTE ]

And Jim is just saying that because I tend to do 90% of my tree removals with Cottonwoods. There are plenty of guys here in the Front Range who are "Cottonwood Kings."

Every time I see a huge Cottonwood I say to myself, "That is the biggest Cottonwood I have ever seen."

They keep me humble.

Jamin, Yes, I talked to the customer about a near future removal of that tree. He is considering it. The third tree, which I did from the bucket, is a disaster in waiting also but I think he can get the power company to do it..........and power lines and the credit union parking lot are the only targets there. I never did get your bid assessment for removing tree #2. I told him around $7.5k

A couple of years ago we removed a couple(cottonwoods) around that size maybe a little shorter. It was the worse under bid ever, one trunk had like 20 feet of concrete and we did it all by hand. That job is the reason I bought my Boxer. We got down to one of the trunks and there was like a hundred snake eggs in it and they where hatching at like a foot long and very aggresive.Still dont know what kinda snake they where and will never tell the price of that one.
