Is there such a thing as "organic" tree care?

Re: Is there such a thing as \"organic\" tree care?

So, I made the change to Bioplus oil and, and, and...I am using it in my advertising on my webpage (see link below) . I think this is a fair way to advertise this product--and I don't think I am engaging in "greenwashing" or false advertising. Do you think this is fair? Ward Tree Care

It's fair the way you're doing it. I like the way you didn't go overboard with it. IMHO. Treebing has the only truly GREEN tree service I've seen. But some "green" practices are myth. My friend John Scott did extensive research on oils and biodegradability. He told me stock bar oil, hydraulic oil etc breaks down very well. Conversely things like used motor oil etc. Are soil and water contaminators. Basically clean oil is not a problem. One of my competitors recently claimed his opp was "greener" than mine. I had to explain to the potential customer that with my lg trucks we made far fewer trips across town and saved air polluting saw cuts by 90 percent when we used cranes. (in our area most debris goes to tub grinders ....so cutting it smaller doesn't save anything unless it's firewood) I also mentioned several other points: his saws run terrible and there always dull....making saw cuts take much longer, his trucks.....much the same....smoking down the road using as much fuel for a sm load as clean burning larger truck carrying five times as much load. I do things like use biodiesel fuel in every thing except saws. Organic tree care brings thoughts of no chem ferts of pest apps also. I think you advertised that you are at least concerned.....which is the right thing to do.

Saying that you use biofuels is not 'greenwashing. It's a statement about your practices.

Biodiesel from secondary sources such as used vegetable oil or other 'used' product diverts materials from landfills or other waste places. This is a form of recycling that makes sense as far as I can tell with my limited knowledge of the chain of processes involved.
