Is there a Silky folding saw that folds and stays folded?

I just threw away a stupid fiskars folding saw that one of my crew bought years ago with the idea of using it... Funny thing is, it stays shut when it is folded. How hard is it to make a high end folding saw that stays shut?

I bought the 200mm medium tooth tsurugi from Wesspur. Can't wait for it to arrive so I can use it.
I like having a straight blade for those situations where a branch is tight against another.

I thought the same. Forgot to order plastic thimbles and called Wesspur to see if I could add that to my order. It is too late, so y'all better not tell me that the tsurugi comes in colors other than that damn breast cancer pink they had in stock...

I have the silky bigboy, it stays shut 95% of the time, tighten the screw on the friction adjustment a little, it makes it a little stiff opening, but it stays shut

Ultra Accel stays closed very well. I can’t remember if I tightened the pivot screw or not (it just takes a flathead screwdriver). The blade doesn’t even budge with a violent shake. I got it for my rec climbing/travel kit, though, so I don’t have any long term experience with using it.

I’m also thinking about getting a straight Tsurugi for tight pruning and making good hinges when using a hand saw. Any recommendations on which length would be good?

I stumbled across this comparison video while searching for the Ultra Accel.

It was good for a laugh since he found the blade material and the performance of the Corona is essentially the same as that of the Ultra Accel. I can see the value of the tapered blade thickness and the tougher handle, but I'm not giving up much for a third the price.

To top it off, the Corona has a positive lock in the folded position. You can see the notch in the picture of the replacement blade.

I may take mine apart to add another notch for overhead cutting, though. You could probably add a notch to the Silky blades to make a positive lock, too.

Any idea what this machine shown in the video is?

I have a couple thoughts, but I’m not completely sure what that is. I’m guessing it’s a heat sealer or hot cutter for that material on the roll next to it, but I’m not completely sure. I am quite curious now though, I like machinery and there’s not a great many that puzzle me, but this one has me confuzzled for sure.

My experience with Corona Razor Tooth blades (the handsaws they supply at work) is that they cut extremely well when they are new and sharp. But when they go dull, the cutting performance drops very quickly, and they are just a pain to use. Compared to my Sugoi (used to be) 420. :(

So far the only thing I don’t like about the Ultra Accel is how the lock gets in the way of choking all the way up on the handle.
