is the T.M. the right choice?

I climb with a petzel sequoia and have been for three years. In my opinion it was an excellent saddle, but i strive for something more. i am getting very curious about the t.m. and was wondering if any one has tried both and could compare for me? If im going to spend half a grand, i want to spend wisely. oh and my climbing style is spurless with hitchclimber v.t. hitch setup.

I have tried both, and will swear by the TM. The final waist belt adjustment needs to be made while in suspension, since the straps can't be cinched after they are buckled, but once you set it, you can forget it...and forget it for sure. You won't feel like you're wearing anything at all. Much more padding and comfort than the Sequoia.

The Sequoia is a great saddle, and very compact when stored. It will be my designated AR saddle for the AR bag.

Have both saddles and the TM is by far the most comfortable saddle in comparision because of it's adjustability...it just needs to be adjusted correctly to your body type and off you go...hardly notice I have it on...

the austria 3.1 seems nice, but what about the d rings? They seem positioned akward. They look like they would dig in the hips. But i am most curious about the second d rings on the tree motion. On the sequoia i have safety in the small gold rings and found it more comfy than the actual d rings. also do you notice that the leg and belt adjustment loosens during the climb? it happens alot to me, wondering if T.M. does the same?

TM. Just pull the trigger you wont regret it. Everything is adjustable and customizable, almost all the parts are replaceable. Its light and flexible, but gives your body more support without bulk. The buckles are much nicer IMO than the goofy ones on the petzl. Its a saddle you can grow into by fine tuning the right setup for you. Everyone gets sticker shock at first but soon realizes its well worth it.

Nothing beats the lower D's on the TM...sitting in suspension from them is the bee's knees...also for spar work they work great...

This is pretty much the opposite of my TM experience. I need to constantly tweak it to keep it right. I've been thinking about stitching the webbing to stop it from creeping. That being said I would still recommend the TM. I always prefer a saddle that doesn't have the bridge on removable parts.

Mine doesn't move Ted the sweat has cytallized salt on the buckles ( works like an adhesive )and the straps just don't creep at all...I don't have to mess with the thing....when it was new it did creep though....I like my stinky TM...

I'm on my second one and they both creep. Maybe its just a Hulk thing!

I might have one for you, lightly used. I prefer my other saddle, check your PMs to further discuss if you wish.

And I have owned both - used the Sequoia SRT for a year at least. Similar saddles, though the TM is better, at least it was for me.

cool So all in all TM has my vote. its settled im gettin one. im from wichita ks, so i think i will be the first here to have one. But one more question.. How does it hold up for footlocking?

Not trying to be rude junkie, but what does footlocking have to do with the durability of a harness? What are your concerns? The TM is bombproof so far for me and I footlock ( not that that will damage a harness ), plus I am hard on my harnesses, I definitely don't baby them, bark down here is pretty rough.....

I was wondering the same thing. Haven't ever had any issues with footlocking causing my harnesses to wear out. That being said, definitely Treemotion. I decided mine was worth that half a grand within the first day climbing in it.

durability is definitely top priority in my list, followed by being functional, then comfort, etc. I'm not worried about foot locking wearing the saddle out, but when i foot lock, i don't have the best stamina yet, so i take a breather and sit in my saddle. the sequoia isn't all that comfy sitting in it in my opinion. so i guess what im asking is it comfy sitting for 3 minutes still? sorry for not being clear and i apologize for asking the same question over and over again. Just wanna be sure.

Ah hah, gotcha, junkie...and yes it's super comfortable to hang in once the hip/lower D's are adjusted properly to give the proper balance pt...so to answer your question you can sit in suspension from your footlock prussic and rest, but remember when resting you should really be resting on a footlock so as not to have a super tight prussic that needs massaging to get going again.....now that my knees have healed I can footlock pain free again which I love...

Im on my third tree motion(one is retired and another I gave to one of our climbers). That since 07 I guess or whenever they came out.Ive never had an issue with creeping and im 200lbs.ive owned almost all the major harnesses out and the tree motion is the best by far.A harness is just not something I would try and save money on.

I had a TM for 2 years and just went to the ergolite by Buckingham. Its fairly basic but I have made a few small improvements, including adding a spectra bridge. Ive also climbed on the Sequoia, Butterfly and Tree Austria 3.1. Im not really into infinitely adjustable saddles, they have a tendency to become infinitely unadjusted. The TM is def not a durable saddle. The bungee connections have a tendency to break. As a business owner I dont really have alot of time to tweak gear. With the ergo i strap on and go.
